Somebody that actually knows what she's talking about. We love to see it. Excited to watch the rest. One of my favorite parts about watching your previous loc journey was seeing how you styled it so I'm also looking forward to seeing how you style your hair this go around. Cheers to new things going on, lady!! 🥂

That short cut was cute!!!! Secondly I have never seen someone with my hair texture so this was pretty cool to see and it showed me the options that I have with my hair. Thank you for keeping this video straight to the point! Made it easy to watch to the end.

I have my hair braided right now, & I’m also 4c I’ve been considering my loc journey all over again. The first time I had locs installed and they weren’t the best and eventually went through something similar to you with the breakage , I noticed the itching in one particular area since getting them , I wasn’t completely bald but it def broke off ! I love your videos and you def inspired me to go through it again with my own hair this time ! Locs def fit my lifestyle so I’m going to start !

I just started my 3rd Loc journey. The 1st didn’t last long at all I did the coil method on my 3b/3c/ 4a mix hair and they kept unraveling no matter what I did so I gave up. The 2nd time I did the instant Loc method with extensions added kept that for over a yr but the extensions made it so heavy and it didn’t feel 100% me. I did a big chop now my hair is past shoulder length I’m doing the journey again but this time authentically me I did 2 strand twist and interlocked the roots so no worries of unraveling I can just let it be and I’m loving it so far this is the 1st journey I had that I feel care free absolutely no worries about my hair if it rains and it gets a lil wet who cares 🥰

Oooh, I’m excited to see your journey! Can’t wait to learn some helpful tips on styling/hydrating locs in between styles. I’m coming up on one year in a few months and I’m still in the fuzzy, slightly budding starter loc phase 😩 - but I’m trusting the process 🤞🏾. Thanks for sharing this with us!

This is my third set of locs as of 2020. I didn't want to go to the barbershop to get my twa cut during those early days of the pandemic & my barbershop quit. I started mine & do my own. I usually keep my locs 3-4 years..not sure this go around 🤭 I did a back "undercut" this time around. Hang in there! 😊

I literally just started my journey & have my starter locs. I know hydrating is important & using oil to lock in the moisture, but how often do I need to hydrate? Every day? Thank you!
@CourtneyGrayton
9 ай бұрын
Every few days should be good to start, but I like to recommend that you get in the habit of feeling your hair to know what it needs and when! This way you don’t get locked into a schedule, but actually give your hair what it needs at the appropriate times!

i’m also wondering about issues w thinning in the future if you have small locs like the ones your client has, that you showed in this vid
@CourtneyGrayton
9 ай бұрын
I’ve been seeing more people talk about being scared of thinning as if it’s inevitable with locs. It’s not! There are different factors that contribute to thinning in the future, but having small locs does not mean you’ll automatically have thinning when they get long. Healthy scalp and hydrated hair with minimal tension will ensure a healthy set of locs (in short). Thinning due to genetics is another thing. I’ll talk about this in more detail soon!

Hi Courtney.I like to color my hair and about start my journey. what do think about coloring early in the process?
@ipsilonia

i have the same question. i haven’t had good experience coloring my thick (but fragile) hair in the past. now i have starter locs so i’m wondering about coloring in the future
@CourtneyGrayton
9 ай бұрын
Hello! It really depends on the color you’re looking for. If it requires you to bleach your hair to a high blonde, I’d either color it before starting and just wait about a year to refresh the roots. Or I’d just hold off until the locs are mature! Bleach can cause major damage to locs, especially starter locs
@CourtneyGrayton
9 ай бұрын
I would say if you’ve had bad experiences with bleaching your hair in the past, i’d stay away from it if possible with your locs! If you do, make sure you can commit to getting protein treatments and putting in much more work to keep your hair strong and healthy
