Farer was my first foray into my watch addiction, for some reason Google thought I might like watches in 2018 when I really wasn't , but they hooked me with the styles and colors...so I guess i have them to thank for a lot ( of spending) I really would say that now that I've experienced a lot of watches since then, the quality to money spent ratio they offer is one of the highest out there. I love them!

Farer is great! I have owned watches from Rolex to JLC, Omega etc and the list goes on. My Farer is by far one of my favorite watches. They aren't for everyone but for those that can appreciate the use of colors nobody does it better. They are amazing value for money and in my opinion easily more enjoyable than other brands in the entry'ish level such as Oris etc.

They can pick some interesting movements too. Like that split-second fly back mecha-quartz the previous couple of years had above-average accuracy. But this year it’s the La Joux Perret movement that has my eyes perked up. This could be the evolution that gets people off ETA 2824s and Sellita SW200s. For one benefit, longer power reserve. I’m testing one at the moment.

I've owned three Farers and all of them were lovely but none of them kept my attention for long. They seem to have a fascia of great use of colours, interesting design and quality of build but lack that something that wants me to keep putting it on my wrist rather than putting it on ebay.

@@jacobt1027 you're not weird at all, it's a matter of taste. And I don't know if you see these brands in person or not, but that can help you decide better. Seiko makes beautiful watches too, but the quality is not the same with Swiss made watches in the same price category from what I've experienced. Personally I prefer Citizen over Seiko, if I want to buy from big brands on a budget.

I’d just like to point out that the particular Tonneau featured here is virtually aesthetically identical to the Nomos Club 744 Signalweiss. I know design elements aren’t necessarily owned by a brand, but this feels like a big copy+paste moment.

Huh? The Nomos is a circular watch, has no texture on the dial and uses a different font. Apart from that, they’re identical!
@centrallyintelligentagency

@@ianhiscock9440 What? The design is entirely evocative. I own a 744. The red-white contrast with numbers like that and the small printed minutes for tens and fives of minutes is almost identical; the hour numerals are so close it’s not even funny. So yeah-the case shape is different, the hands aren’t blued and no sub second dial…but it’s incredibly similar.

I picked up the Farer Fairford two years ago and love it. Pretty understated for Farer, and quartz so clearly terrible, but with an ETA split seconds chrono inside and an..... alien panda dial.....? Its black and white..... and baby blue and orange. Its just a well made, well spec'd wearable, solid watch. Super reliable and versatile.

I kinda prefer these to Nomos actually. I know movement and all but still. They don't look as sterile and boring as Nomos. And from tonneau - Paris is boring (matter of fact as the city itself!), give me London or Milan ;) And by the way, Louis Erard sells watches with elabore level of the same movement for 3 times the price. So kudos!

@CelestialPug-ed8vd

@@MartinClimbsa bit more like « a second helping/serving » of food, which is shortened to « seconds. » Applies to any course of the meal or platter on the table. We say, « Anyone want seconds? /Can I have seconds? » etc. At least in American English; don’t know about British....
