Really helpful tips Lexi! I never realized how many fees these companies can tack on. I tend to rent cars through the more major companies , and it definitely gets pricey! I do try and rent the smallest vehicle possible, definitely gets the job done 🤷🏼♀️

Girl you fool fool. that's all that is. two u avi know how to drive properly. second nuh go show off and act like u rich. third nuh men people drive ur car unless u put them on the contract and it insured. Men sure u check everything beforee u sign off and do a walk around when u also take it back and sign off. I go one step further I take pictures of aver nick and things missing int he car. Stop quoting Jamaica dollars and pretend it is a lot. this if u nuh met old money nuh go jamaica and show off. you cannot rent a car anywhere without a credit car. same thing in any country especially USA. So I can tell u shouldn't rent cars as u can't drive a ja and u nawh men enough money up here. No u returnbt he car within the time specify that u agree to. So schedule the return approximate 2 hours to your flight. who does that not adjust the time.

It’s fab how you did a conversion chart for USD girl, will be very helpful for many! It’s mad how many fees they then bring up…. deffo can’t just go off of the one day fee they make out it would cost at the start… also mad you have to give back the car full tank! So that’s even more expense! This is so extremely useful & so many fab tips! You deffo need to be careful of those hidden costs 😂 btw you look beautiful as always!xxxx

Private Rental sound good, but how do you ensure that you are covered in case of an accident or damages? What if the police stopped you and ask if the car is yours or it's a rental, what would you say Yes/No..... If YES is the person renting you the car is a register as rental company. I'm so confused about this....
@JustLexiSimple

There is accident forgiveness in the fees in case of damage to the car. Also, if the police stops you the car has its documents and there is also a disclaimer that it’s a rental and the company will give you a 24/7 number to which you can call if you get into any problems.
@stoneyvill

@@JustLexiSimple This only apply when renting from a registered car company like Hertz, Island Rental, Avis etc. If you rent privately how will you be covered is case of an accident or damages to the vehicle or street furniture. Could you rent your private car in Jamaica without needing some special rental insurance coverage.

You can reserve from now, honestly when you’re in the country and doing it “last minute” there are a lot of hidden fees and if you use your credit card, I’m not sure how long it’s going to take to get the deposit refunded.

Lots of good info yet this is NOT UNIQUE to Jamaica. The fees for renting a car everywhere I’ve travelled are extravagant. CONDITION: As for condition of the car before and after I suggest taking photos before you drive off & as soon as you drive I the rental return lot (detailed inside and out) This includes a picture of the dashboard showing mileage, gas level & any warning lights that appear BEFORE you drive off the lot.

You have to rent the car during their operating hours. Otherwise they bill you for that, eg if you rent the car at 5pm on Saturday and you rent it for 7 days, you have to bring it back at 5pm in 7 days if my memory serves me correctly
