This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzitem.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

I love the desk! Regarding the warped boards, I don't know if this would have helped, but I've seen historical carpenters use steam pits for heating wood that needed to be shaped. If you ever need to try that again, maybe sticking them in a closed dish (or tinfoil wrap) lined with wet towels in the oven for a long, slow steam before clamping? It might penetrate more than an iron could.

Seeing the guy across the street on the ladder, and knowing this desk was being made in our garage here. I thought, how nice to live in a world where people are just making and taking good care of their things. We live with our homes, furniture, and tools for a while, and with some skill and know-how maybe they can outlive us for future people. Absolutely gorgeous work. What a good eye you have-you’re quite an artist. To see how you brought that wood to life ( with a capital L) wow. My great grandson and I stood across the street and watched as a eucalyptus tree in our front yard was cut down after a huge branch had broken off in a storm and fell on our roof. He cried and so did I. I felt as though I could hear the tree crying. It was dangerous work for the arborist’s crew. One man narrowly missed losing his arm to the thick strap he’d thrown over and tightened on another thick branch so it wouldn’t do damage to the driveway as it fell, while yet another man was sawing. Oh, my. I held my breath. The work crew was Hispanic as am I, third generation, and sorely without my grandmother’s language. I missed her as I heard them talking, and thought of how she had escaped slavery in Mexico, crossing the Rio Grand by herself. I wish I had some of that eucalyptus wood now, as I (at 79 years of age, and a woman one-time portrait artist) begin a new and exciting venture of refinishing, and hopefully repurposing old pieces of furniture. I have never seen a video of such remaking as watching you. I can’t thank you enough.

So, obviously you're talented and you have all the right tools. But what I admire most about you and others who do this kind of thing is your patience. While your "plan b" ended in with a great result, had it been me, "plan b" would have ended with a driveway full of splintered wood and very likely bits and pieces of the laptop I used to watch this video.

I wish you had bought some cheaper wood (to stain or otherwise) for the legs and left the shelf and smaller pieces for other projects. You would've had the freedom to make a more interesting design. Also, for this desk, the blocky legs would work better with a rectangular or more angular design for the top. Maybe route off the rounded bevel. I don't know. Just some thoughts.
