Yeah the thieves wouldn't rob me or do anything. Maybe its because I skipped the enemy phase but I could just steal the key and leave (I also wasnt stuck on the pillar tile so I could just walk off it, I left my thief on the tile directly north of the key thief on the BK spawn turn)

My solution was not the one that saved Al (Blame Ginger for that one) but mine was this: [Spoiler tagged here so don't read if you don't wanna silly] Turn 1: Shove Terry up 6, then have Terry wait right of Archer 1. Have Bernie wait left of Archer 1. Have Biraku wait above archer 1. Have Vark KO Gladiator 1. Move Al up. Turn 2: Move Bernie 1 tile out of range of Gladiator 2. Move Vark up. Move Al into the tile where Bernie was. Move Mech full range. Turn 3: Move Bernie as far as possible while still in Mech's range. Shove Bernie with Mech. Have Vark kill Gladiator 2 (if not previously done). Turns 4-21: Move Bernie 2-3 tiles out of range of Archer 2 and keep Vark always 1 tile out of range of Archer 2. Continue this process until end of turn 21. Turn 22: Have Terry kill Archer 1 (Hardin will have dealt 126 damage to the archer by this point). Move Bernie further away so that archer 2 goes down. Turn 23: Have Vark + Biraku chip Archer 2 so Terry can KO. Turn before opening door: Have Al wait 2 tiles right of town entrance. Have Bernie wait 3 tiles right of town entrance. Have everyone else out of range. Turn after opening door: Have Al steal the Door key. Have Bernie trade the Door Key (and other items if desired, though unecessary) and end turn. Keep all other units out of range. 2 Turns after opening door: Have Bernie move full movement beside the house (This will not work if you move away from the house, as she will not be able to escape enemy range next turn). Sacrifice Al. 3 turns after opening Door: Have Bernie move such that she is not in the range of Black Knight 30, but is in range of the other Black Knight. Have Terry move towards these Black Knights, staying out of range of them. Next turns after opening door: Move all units out of range of Black Knight 30, except Terry. Have Terry KO Black Knight 30. Open Door turn: Have Vark open door, then perform actions as shown in the video. I believe this is the way to complete the escape room using the minimum # of tools, since you don't use Tractor Beam, Healing Potion or Poison, and you only have to use 4 Tackle uses.
