I know i bring him up alot but aliensrock just feels like such a good example when it comes to stuff like this. Tyler experiments, uploads what he likes to play, and sometimes goes out of his way to upload certain games that fit his niche. He doesn't force himself to play competitive or any fast paced FPS games for content because that's not what he wants. He has a lot of fun doing singleplayer puzzle games and that's really nice. He really grew on me in that way and made me a consistent watcher and supporter. He's a great example of someone underrated but won't change what they do just because one video blew up. Matter of fact, he set it straight on patreon that he lost motivation in terraria and didn't want to play it anymore.

I think the thing I really like about this is it applies to life in general so much. In our modern days everyone always wants instant gratification. For example, it’s easier just to scroll on your phone then it is to exercise, but in the long run the latter makes you feel better. KZitem is no different. People seek some immediate gratification but eventually that gratification isn’t enough and you burn out. Work on your strengths and ultimately you’ll end up more fulfilled in your life if you let the journey take you.

You know Ken, This video was actually very well put and pretty inspiring. Yeah, growing slow and building your core audience has meaning, and it has a lot of it. I've been enjoying content creation and even though I am smol, the tiny audience I do have really does feel like an accomplishment in its own and I appreciate each and every one of my viewers. Having fun is what KZitem should be about. Look at the early KZitemrs, there was no expectation of going big. It was just plain ol' fun. I've got my own niche, and I am having fun creating and improving my video making capabilities, (like using replay mod for different angles). Thanks for this video, Ken. And thanks for the super secret tip at the very end, very insightful! I would have never thought of that.

making something you have fun making and making something high in demand don’t overlap that often, so whether or not that overlaps is extremely luck based. even if you both have fun and are very good at what you make, if a lot of other people are also making it then it doesn’t matter how good you are. you were lucky in that you enjoyed fitting a niche that had high demand and low supply, most people don’t fit one of those.

This is hilariously accurate. I did a year project of a Fortnite Channel based off Creative which ended up with 4.5k subs and nearly a mil views. I constantly got videos to do great but I never thought of it as "solving KZitem". Only reason why I stopped was because I had entered in a false email for monetisation on the account originally, and when it was time for ad sense, I couldn't get Google to remove that email. I was also in education, which meant that continuing the channel was pointless, could ruin my education and didn't guarantee money.

While generally this seems right, I know several channels that blew up by having a single big moment, sometimes a viral shitpost that they are not proud of, but that let them connect to orders of magnitude more target audience than they would have otherwise. It can actually be a worthwhile strategy to research the tricks to grow quickly, and then just recess into steadily producing whatever you enjoy. Sure it might seem at first that a channel is dying when all the people who came just for the crazy stuff lose interest, but you retain the true fans that mightve never found the channel if not for that singular moment it went viral.

Didn't expect the funny shush shaker to make a video like this, kinda saw myself in one of the points on what not to make, i saw people getting all achievements on games blowing up in views so since i also like getting achievements i started doing that too but i did not like the way i'd have to record videos, i accidentally recorded a short because of Batman Arkham City downloading incorrectly and the vibe during it was completely different from the rest, i got some feedback from people and realized that it's more my style so i already started recording more similarly to that short and immediately got a surge in motivation without even having uploaded the first video in that style

Damn, so quick story for me. Back in late 2021 or early 2022 I made a forza horizon 5 video that went pretty viral and got around 1.5 million views, my channel went from 50 to over 8000 subscribers almost overnight, but I was too busy and honestly not even intending on being a KZitemr and of course everything died out immediately after the video went viral. Sadly my channel was banned due to it getting hacked and then video upload botted and I was never able to recover it, which is why this new account has no videos or subs on it. But Ken's advice is definitely spot on and extremely relatable.
