I have long been a fan of Nick Offerman, since the early days where he and Jimmy DiResta built a canoe. Recently I got the chance to power read ( look at the pictures and glance at some of the words ) Nicks book called Good Clean Fun. This is a great book and I will have to circle back to it when I have a bit more time.
I had been saving some apple wood from my tree and thought it would work awesome for one of the Offerman Woodshop Pencil Holder.
This was a quick build that let me get outside while the spring thaw had begun, I straightened up a couple of edges on the wood piece, flattened a few sides and left some of the character on the wood. I drilled a 2 and ¼ inch hold and then managed to squeeze another hole that was 1 ¼ inch.
Applewood sands really well, It’s a very hard and tight grained wood. I went up to 320 grit and then gave it a couple coats of tongue oil.
I hope you enjoyed this one, and please if you haven’t already, please like 👍 and subscribe 😁
