Yes it is and the rise of kawaii culture, which focuses on portraying something as cute and innocent was intentionally spread and pushed with the help of America after ww2. Because keep in mind, this Japan is almost the very same Japan which we saw commited things words alone cannot describe. And the US wanted to make Japan, who just fought a war against the entire world into one of their key-allies. So they basically had to forgive them just like that but since the war was still so fresh they needed to change the perception of Japan. So by ressurecting the Kawaii culture and make it core cultural export, it painted Japan in a way different light, from a war-thirsty society into a society of cute, quirky and innocent things, which became of a form of victim mentality.

also think about the message you're sending by walking away and ignoring them: you're not intimidated at all by them, you don't care what they have to say, they're inconsequential to you. surely that would have an affect on their perception of you, right? then, if they were to grab you, you should be offended and very mad at them, since they've assaulted you without any good reason (them being filmed is not a good reason, it's a public place).

They sounded like they were going to report you at first and taking info for police. Later they sounded more chill. So they rolled the rrrrrrr like y@kuza? The way they burped around you showed no respect. They might just forget about it, what are they gonna say to the police? Unless they lied to f# with you due to growing hostility towards bad KZitemrs. I usually film (on different channel with Insta360 Go 3 (but not a camera for live streaming) now on a channel that's unknown and Japanese hubby is with me, he is a gyn rat so ridiculously strong. Yes try not point towards anyone cuz youth seeking vengeance for KZitemrs like Somali and Logan Paul. I don't think they were going to beat you up but looked like they were getting your info to report. But after the fist bump, you prolly fine.
