Great video. I received a few comments about the reflection coming off my glasses and got a lot of advice about lighting too. In the end, it was easier to just ditch the glasses! Enjoyed watching and learned a lot about artists I am unfamiliar with. Thanks.

I think Interpol needs Antics. To me its like a perfect companion album to Turn on the Bright Lights. Then you can stop after those 2. I totally agree with you about smashing pumpkins siamese dream. That’s the only album I need by them, and I do NEED it. I bought that on CD when it first came out. I was 12. I loved that record. Later something switched in me and I was like, this album sucks and I got rid of it. Now that I’m super old, I find myself longing for the bitter sweet riffs on that record. Waiting for them to repress it again.

Antics just never made a lasting impression on me. It was kind of forgettable. I promise, though, I’m not judging. I think there’s a good reason why they have such a devoted following. They were just a one trick pony for me personally. Yes! The riffs! The bitter sweet riffs. I truly think Siamese Dream (apart from “Disarm”) is really one of the great guitar rock albums. Iha and Corgan really knew what they were doing with that one. Cheers ✌🏻

😂😂 I have so many questions. First off how the hell did you edit out 10 mins??? I want the b-sides but also that is impressive. Maybe I should send you one of my 35 min nuggets. It'll probably end up at 12 mins. We agree quite closely actually on these. Your take on the Pumpkins is basically identical to mine though I don't feel I need to own Siamese dream (would choose Pisces and never liked Gish, sounds badly metallic). Interpol I do like the 2nd but it feels more like the 2nd Lp of Bright lights (which is great). Black Flag, kind of agree but you should give My War another shot. TMBG interesting...my 15 yr old self should speak up about this. Agree on Macca and Harrison completely though I've been told I'm an idiot for not liking the 2nd one. (Which no one mentions). Bright Eyes (need none but if it's any, that one). I have 2 JJ cale and that's one of em too. CYHSY definitely agree, the rest are pretty bad and I'm fine with a CD of the first. I could definitely do a take on this and I am considering...

Well, when I was doing my 200 Albums series, I got in the habit of going down a thought path and stopping. Then, starting over. Kind of like multiple takes without a script? So I do this every time I record a video now. I edit my videos in Premiere, so I watch it back and I always end up cutting two or three tangents that I go on. Editing is key to me. All my videos were 30 minutes long (or longer) back when I started. I would love to get to a point where every video I make is under 15 minutes. I’m not saying Black Flag doesn’t have other good albums. I just don’t need them on vinyl. This video could have easily been titled “Why do I still have these records?” Ever since it was posted I’ve been wondering if I really need to keep the CYHSY album. 😎 Like video editing… purging is essential! One of the first to come to mind is Smashing Pumpkins but for me it's Gish. I did pick up a CD of Pieces Iscariot too, but only because it was $1 and I only play one song. Guns N Roses is another one for me. Appetite For Destruction of course. Hypothetically if they were to make a completion of the best tracks from the Use Your Fans albums and Lies I might go for that but it would be silly to make a comp from 2 albums. Lita Ford - Lita is another one. David Lee Roth - Eat 'Em And Smile is the only one of his solo career I would want. Ace Frehley's KISS solo album is the only KISS album I have. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime is a great progressive Metal album. That's all I need from them. Snoop Dog's first solo album is one. For some reason my answers here seem really Hard Rock focused. Hello Jon! This is Dixieland Farm's thing, but Kris is a bit more draconian about it. He thinks you only need one album by any band. Is it bands and artists who don't develop, or because you like the music of others so much you'd buy an album of them farting the collected marches of John Philip Sousa? A bit of both? I've also only got one Ladybug Transistor album, but it ain't that one. I do think you're right about many of those indie bands, the one and done theory seems built in to them. I don't buy "classic" albums new. So my collection of these is entirely based on finding them in charity shops for a pound. I have one by the Rolling Stones, one Pink Floyd, one Doors, one from The Who, one Clash album, one AC/DC...The shameful list goes on. I own three Dan Fogelberg albums, yet nothing by The Kinks! I'm a ludicrous man. Hed

I have plenty of albums by the “indie bands.” I don’t think they are anymore inclined to be one trick ponies than bands from any other decade. It’s more than likely a generational thing. As far as classic rock goes, my list of bands that I have no records by is far longer than the one I have one record by. I like your approach to collecting them, though. Every Stones album I have (except Beggars Banquet) is a used copy from 70s or earlier. All of them found in stores. Not all dollar bin records, though. I could definitely see this being a Kris thing. I can hear his tone as I type. I look forward to his comment when he comes around. Cheers, Hedley!

Always wonder if I'm just not trying hard enough. That said, most of the single albums you've shown here i can only agree with (interpol, JJ Cale, Black Flag). Tough stance in Macca, respect! As for our differing Pumpkins stance, perhaps if I call them my Pearl Jam that would give you an idea of how i can justify their first 4. Mostly nodding along (yeah, I have that same lone Interpol record), until TMBG, which made me bristle. Funny how easy it is to get defensive over stuff like this. And I *just* bought the new reissue of Marshall Crenshaw’s second album. But then, I’ve never liked Smashing Pumpkins, and never owned even one of their records. Not to speak ill of the recently deceased, but my controversial choice might be Robbie Robertson’s 1987 solo debut. Not so controversial in just considering his solo work, but very controversial that I’d add The Band’s output to the Robertson material I don’t need.

So far, not too many people getting defensive over my selections. But, yeah, I totally understand that feeling. It’s all in the delivery of the presenter. I probably could have been more deliberate in explaining that this wasn’t me telling the viewer what they should or should not own. To be entirely honest, if early pressings of TMBG and Lincoln were easier to come by, I might have them too. That said, they have been reissued and I haven’t gone out of my way to attain them. I used to have that Robertson album. It is good. I was amazed at how Lanois’ production worked so well for somebody like Robbie Robertson. It really comes down to whether or not you're going to listen to an album multiple times. Every time I buy a lot of records, I play everything to see what I like and don't like. I also determine if I am really going to listen to the record again. If the answer is no, it goes in the sell pile.
