I did Roth last year. My tips (keeping in mind I did it in 14hrs 58mins): 1. Swim: The athlete waves are first come first served in Registration so if you catch up with swimmers later in the swim, don't bother to look for a draft, these swimmers are likely much slower than you. 2. Bike: The problem isn't the hills, it's the heat and the headwind going back towards Hilpoltstein. 3. Run: great run for the first 32km but then you hit this bl***y big hill for the last part of the run. I did IMWales a couple of months later - Roth was harder. Good luck, you'll do great!

Thanks very much Kevin, appreciate it! Other than I'm not entirely happy to hear that Roth is harder than Wales D:

Hi Dan. Roth is MEGA. You'll love it. Don't worry too much about the bike. The course is rolling but unbelievably fast. There are plenty of stretches where you'll be soft pedaling. Although rolling, it's only 3 or 4 'climbs' the others are largely false flats. For a rider as strong as you, it's not a course to 'Attack'. I did it three consecutive years and have been back to spectate as well. If you want to ask anything, about the course, event, logistics, what to expect etc, don't hesitate to reach out. I wouldn't be wearing a black tri suit no matter how fast it is btw!

Adding to this - Liz should try to hire a bike. Roth is almost harder on spectators than participants - swim/soler/t2/run/finish are all quite spread out. Also racing this year (the second time) so see you there. BTW, I live in Netherlands so even less experience on hills and can echo what Paul says, nothing to be afraid of really.

@@mattwarnock8109 absolutely! Great bakery in Hilpoltstein for the swim and awesome crowds. Not to far to walk to Solar Berg from there, but a trek back to Roth.

Thanks Paul & Matt, really appreciate that. We're very luck that Zone3 are helping us out with some logistics but I'd still like to get a good grasp on it. Liz has a media pass and can go on the media transport, obviously they're following the pro race though :D. Every course is a course to attack ;). I've got a blue trisuit for this one, testing it in the heat tomorrow

Haha yes it’s not ideal to go down in the wet that’s for sure! Surface is good at least. It’s such a shame Beeley is looking like it’ll be closed forever :(
