I know my mum spray them with dishwater and sta-soft and it helps a little bit against bugs. It does not hurt the plants. Hope for the best. Keep the sparkles on. Lovies Yetta💕

Well, I’m not worried about the bees they come every year and they don’t really destroy any of my plants. And the wasp I don’t know if they bother the plants or not. But I do have a different bug that I’m not quite sure what it is and one of themmight have been white flies I think but I don’t know cause I’ve never seen this either so I have two bugs that I need to find out what they are and if they are destroying these sunflowers or not, they look like they are

Good afternoon Grandma Sandy!! Oh noo, I love sunflowers 🌻 and I never heard of such tragedy before. I hope you get answers and hope for the future growth of your sunflowers next summer. You had some gorgeous tall sunflowers!! Every summer it seems like new and odd bugs appear in the cities. I don't know what is going on with our environment as a whole anymore. 🙏🏽🌻❤️🙏🏽🌻❤️

Thank you so much for stopping by after work he’s on the plan and there were wasp flying around two, but there is another couple of bugs that were Due to me. Might be whitefly I’m not quite sure. But you’re still another bug looks sort of like a bee but when you really look at it, it isn’t the same and I can’t really seem to get a good picture individually of it. I’ll try again tomorrow and set something up to share with you. Hopefully someone will know what it is and how I should try to get rid of it.

Well, I think the sunflowers are probably gonna be a total loss this year there soon as they bloom out they get attacked. I do have some in the backyard. I can’t tell if they started going back there yet or not but all the ones in the front will be sorry totally run probably in the next couple of weeks.

Oh no, your beautiful sunflowers. It's been so hot and dry in some parts in the USA. We're getting a lot of rain here and really not enough sun. Hopefully next year will be a better growing year. The few sunflowers you have do look beautiful. I don't know a lot about sunflowers, but I do know it's just been a bad year for gardening around here.

That's really interesting. Maybe they help to pollinate. We have native plants that make red flowers along a stem. The red throated finches will eat them.

Looks like bumblebee's, but I think they are after the pollen. Birds will take the seeds if that's what you're asking.

Oh my goodness, wow, there are so many of those, they look like some type of bee. Poor Sunflowers, if may be you could somehow enclose them with something see through. This is terrible. Can you make some type of screen around them?

Likely the bees and wasps are attracted to the pollen - both are usually beneficial. I looked it up and sunflowers can bolt (rush to flower and go to seed) during hot spells. ~ Sandra

That might just be seasonal because every year for us is different. Last year the bees were out of control, they even got in thru basement and this year, I rarely see them, I have seen a swarm of moths which I didn't see before, so every year, it's a different insect out of control.

Oh that's too bad about your sunflowers! I tried googling it but couldn't find a definite answer. Maybe you can take a still photo of the insects and try google lens to try to determine what kind of but it is. They kind of look like a bee. Hope you find your answer!
