My first ever unboxing video is an exciting one! 2021 and COVID-19 can eat my shorts, because I got a new lid in the post!
Today we're going to look at a custom made interpretation of the Tjele helmet, a mysterious Viking Age helmet fragment from Denmark, c.950-970, that I just got from a historical blacksmith.
I ordered it from Oleg over at Helgi's True History Shop, but am in no way sponsored by them, and provide the link below for your interest and information (note, this lid is now available after I commissioned it, which I think is neat).
I'd love you to join me as we compare it with a replica Yarm helmet I have, look at some of the elements of construction and decoration that make up a Viking helmet, and go through some of the things you might want to consider when you order custom armour and helmets for your own medieval re-enactment impression!
