Girl consider this permission to DNF any book that’s causing you emotional distress 😅😅😅 tricky thing of non-fiction recommendations is that they are typically for a certain audience at a certain time and place on someone’s life kudo’s for attempting this and the their responses were great 🤣

i think a good DNF compromise is to allow yourself a threshold. Halfway is an option, but i'm personally *totally* fine if a reviewer DNFs at 100 pages (tbh more like 60-80pgs) bc i think that's plenty of time to get a hold on a style and feel for a book and know it's not for you

Okay so some of my fave queens from the show that I think would be super fun to do a pat 2 with would be - Choriza May, Rose, Kornbread, Maddy Morphosis, Bosco, Daya Betty, Lady Camden, River Medway, Cheryl Hole, Lemon, Jan, Angeria - ik they're from recent seasons but they just came to mind :)

Great video. Love the queens. The cameo videos were great. Sorry it was a mixed bag with the books. Don't feel bad about DNF'ing. It's a good thing to do for yourself. I understand why it is harder in a VLOG situation, but you just filmed your honest experience with the book.

You have the BEST ideas!!! And I just went scrolling through all the drag queens on Cameo to find future suggestions lol. Latrice is my heart but she costs almost as much as Shangela, and Violet and Katya aren't taking cameos right now but I'm sure when they do they are big bucks as well, rightfully so! Looking for a more affordable queen I think would be really fun, I'd try Jiggly Caliente! 😘 eta: I'm guessing BenDeLa would be pretty $$$ too when she starts accepting requests again but keep her in mind anyway!

Nobody: The secret: toxic positivity ✨✨✨ Theres some truth to the secret. Just the secret isn’t the secret 🤫. Manifestation IS real, but going about it in the way of that book legitimately had me in A&E after an overdose. You have to take the good parts away, if there is any. Like, gratitude is a really great thing. If you can take anything from Rhonda the message of gratitude is it 💓

The Giving Tree I loved as a kid but I couldn’t read it without crying. The first time my teacher read it to us at school- I walked past a tree stump on the way home and burst into tears, I’m not even kidding. So totally understand that reaction! If you want more Shel Silverstein, my favorite of his kid’s poetry collections was Where the Sidewalk Ends. Really fun and whimsical, from my recollection.

So please, feel free to DNF books if you don't like them. Sometimes I feel the same way about you when I want to DNF but still try to finish a book, then I'm falling down in a major reading slump. The point of reading a book that is filled with bullshit is to see how it builds its influence, what rethoric it employs. Very awful poeple have benefited greatly from the 'law of attraction' which, don't be fooled, may sound like a scientific wording but is indeed complete bullshit. It's not just happy thoughts and harmless reasurance, it is a business and a dangerous one at that. MLMs flourish thanks to the law of attraction, cults get founded based on that very idea, people venture in risky behaviours regarding their carreer, finance, health, childcare and social interactions because of that. Some poeple stop taking life saving treatments because they believe in the law of attraction. And don't say "who am i to say it's bullshit if i didn't try it? " it's not like there is no scientific data on this. These claims are old and they have been tested . The data says, unequivocably, and to no one's surprise, that the law of attraction doesn't work. Not only does it not work, but it causes lots of mental issues (because the person clinging to that faith might become isolated, dive deeper in the faith in hopes to finally get results, double down on the commitment and feel personally guilty and powerless when it doesn't work, unable to see that their failure might just be the result of a bad strategy, or simply bad luck. It is not harmless. It's the biggest lie. Even bigger that the lie that it works. Because most poeple who try it might not at first believe that it works, but they sure believe that it's harmless, and when gurus convince you that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, that's when you lose the most, and when they gain the most.
