When using UV resin you need a clear mold so the UV can penetrate the entire resin/mold, or, you'll end up with what you got, uncured resin at the bottom!
@STICKYArt
2 жыл бұрын
I think by curing it in thinner layers like this makes it possible to not use a clear mold. She used UV cure. The air pockets in the beginning was due to silicone spray doing it’s job and the resin is not sticking :)
@sqbrex
2 жыл бұрын
@@STICKYArt she says in the video that the very bottom layer didn't fully cure, and she had to go and use the uv light on it to cure it fully 13:16

NerdECrafter Jackie always told us viewers about the need to use clear molds for UV resin. Because the top layer cures before the bottom can cure and once that top layer cures, the bottom can't be cured unless it's unmolded. *don't unmold uncured resin, it's harmful to do so* it's not the release under the resin. If you use an opaque mold, you need to use two-part cure epoxy resin.

Okay, I really like how the edge bubbles came out. Everyone always fetishizes the perfect clean edge look with resin pieces, which is admittedly highly satisfying, but it's not the only way to use the material, and the warped bubbly edge here also synergizes well with the intended theme.

I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail of Titanic in her resting place. I’ve been fascinated with her nearly all my life. This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Fantastic job! I’m blown away! Sooo cool. BTW, I received my Bear Co. brushes and they are awesome. I know you mostly paint acrylic, so I wasn’t sure how they’d do with watercolor, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they hold water. And I was able to use the larger brush for detail work…it held its point so well. Awesome job curating the set!

To be honest because the resin is not perfect and a little milky in some spots it looks like the painting is in a block of ice wich is really fitting for the motive. I would say it adds to the piece.

My understanding of UV resin, from artists talking about different resins, is that UV resin is used for small projects. Larger projects that need sizes over 1 foot by 1 foot, you use two part or resin that takes a while to dry. The heat as UV resin cures will warp the resin as it dries in larger sheets. There are quick cure resins, non UV, but they still cure for a long time compared to the UV. Curing 2-3 hours per layer before cured enough to paint and move it without warping it horribly. That was the one resin I have heard about for this sort of paining. I would dread trying to hang this sort of thing on my wall.

I’ve actually done this several times before. Some great alternatives to making a frame is using one of those pre-built wooden art panels or getting an inexpensive silicone soap mold. I got both from Amazon. Also, I only use 2-part resin. I paint a layer everyday. Also I embed stickers and other sculpted items into mine.

Suggestion... How about for another fun art experiment you try this: Using pegs on a board of some type, wrap thread or yarn around the pegs to create art / shapes. Then once you've completed your string/peg art, pour resin on it and see if you can remove the pegs so the strings stay in place within the resin. I was inspired by the "Geometric California Bear" art behind your head in this video.

When using uv resin you need a transparend mold😨 the light can not full penetrate the resin this way that is why it cured uneven/ is curving😔 on the backing of the artpiece. Jazza used a clear mold which was good… but his layers were so thick that the light couldn’t fully penetrate the resin with paint on it, so he needed more time too cured(he didn’t tho🤪) and he should have maybe put the light underneath his artpiece aswel to cure it better(which he didn’t either) so you both had challanges. I do love this kind of art project and love the art you eventually made❤️❤️ please do another😍 if you go bigger, use quick setting 2 part resin tho🤫
