For everyone like me who wants a list of the paint supplies used: - The Army Painter "Anti-Shine" Varnish Primer (1st base) - Citadel Paints "Martian Ironearth" Technical Paint (cracks for carapace) - Matte Black Primer (2nd base) - Citadel Paints "Kislev Flesh" Layer Paint (zenithal highlights) - Citadel Paints "Carroburgh Crimson" Shade Paint (edge highlights) - Citadel Paints "Stormhost Silver" Layer Paint (teeth) - Molotow ONE4ALL "Signal White" Acrylic Paint (white highlights on vents/claws) - Citadel Paints "Aethermatic Blue" Contrast Paint (layer over white) - Winsor & Newton "Manganese Blue" 37ml Oil Paint + White Spirit (oil wash for cracks and crevasse) - White Spirit (remove oil reside or build ups) I found almost all of these on amazon for pretty cheap. All and all looking at about £20 for primers, £25 for paints inc oil and like £5 for the acrylic paint bottle (30ml, not the 180ml one shown). £50 to paint that many models seems pretty good? [edit] The only thing I'd maybe do differently is paint the claws, hooves and weapon parts in general separately. The look a little flat in the final product but still amazing. Def going to give it a go once my supplies arrive.

@SlayerMiniatures
2 жыл бұрын
Hi there winged munchies. Without and airbrush the white highlights could easily be done with a white spray can on the larger bugs. On small ones you may struggle with a spray can. I would say the easiest and less risky method would be to do dry bushing. I cannot do a completely seperate guide for these using normal brushes at the minute, but i will bare it in mind for a future video. I also may include non airbrush options in all my videos going forwards as i am mindful that not all people have them. Check out the Artus Opus youtube channel, byron does some amazing things with just dry brushing and some of the techniques may inspire you to adapt to this video?

Hi Jacob, glad you liked the army. I themed these off a TV show, but if you like greens you could look for inspiration from nature for tyranids or look at other schemes for inspiration. If you are new to the hobby and picking schemes I'd advise taking a look at videos on the 'colour wheel' it will help you alot! Green works well with orange, red,yellow and also purple,pink. You could easily use my video as a guide and switch in some different colours once you know what you like. I'd also advise doing a test model until you have the scheme down too. Hope that helps

Hi Simon, yes I thinned the Kislev. I didnt thin the contrast or wash. Try mixing your paint in a little pot before adding to your airbrush. If you mix in the pot it sometimes gets clogged...especially if put the paint in first and then thinner. Hope that helps

I'm having trouble shoving the shade through the airbrush. It's absolute misery. Does it have to be shade? I was thinking of trying my luck with an ordinary bordeaux / wine read acryllic and airbrush it carefully. The shade is either splattering all over the place or drying on the tip. No in-between.

so varnish on the bare plastic and then the crackle paint?
@SlayerMiniatures
2 жыл бұрын
Yup! If you put crackle paint on bare plastic it will just peel and flake off, even after it's primed. The just varnish gives a rougher surface and let's the crackle paint adhere to it. You don't need to use varnish - you could spray it with primer of any colour too.

I had the same with getting pressures right. To be honest it's trial and error. Do a test on a piece of paper or your hand..if it 'spider webs' it's too high. I spray between 20-35psi most of the time but will lower it if its not playing nice ha. Hope that helps you out
