Hey Parris - nice to see an upload here. I have been anticipating this game since I finished the first one. As you said - this is an experience. If the sound and acting has taken a leap forward (along with the visuals) - this will be amazing. The first game royally messed me up, I needed a week to decompress. I know it'll happen again but I am willing to go through that for this game.

First video I’ve ever watched by you and wow amazing review! You got a sub from me. I felt the exact same way about the game. Loved it albeit not perfect. But you’re right it’s an experience. Your review was a great discussion and the comments section is refreshing. Every other video it’s just people arguing and having a console war. Sad so many judging it not going in knowing it’s a cinematic experience and sayin it’s trash. For what the game tries to be it’s a masterpiece.

Paris, I didn't even know that you had your own channel. Man. This is great! I just followed you. You are killing it. This was a very good, well told review. Impressive! I love the way you're explaining that it's an experience and not your typical video game because that's how I've always send you a song I was. The first one was the same thing. It wasn't a video game. People complain a lot and this and that but it's not a video game per se. It's an experience and it's a good one at that. I haven't beat the second one yet. But today when I get home around. 2:00 p.m. I'll be playing until like 12:00. I'm hoping to be the first place through one sitting. I don't have a lot of time so this game is perfect for somebody like me because time is so limited and this is what I want is an experience in a game because honestly this day and age game quality in general has just gone down here. We don't have the quality of games that we had when we were growing up. People don't put as much into the story. People don't put as much into a lot of the things

Loved the combat in this game. The first boss, where she smashed the bosses skull in at the end of the fight, had me in tears. She does such an amazing job of acting that it really hit me hard. I rarely get emotional from a game. Last one was RDR2’s ending.

This game has spot on acting, graphics, and sound that I have never seen imo.

I see people talking about the meat critic score, and I do not care what the aggregate score is. Why? Because the first Hellblade is sitting at an 81-ish, and it's in my top 5 games of all time, due to the writing and emotive narrative. Hellblade 1 brought me to tears in a way no other piece of media (video game or TV/movie) has ever done. No other piece of media has moved me, the way Hellblade has, and Senua is now my favourite protagonist in gaming, just above Max Payne (who held that title since Max Payne 1 came out). Was Hellblade fun? I wouldn't describe it as fun. GTA is fun. Ori is fun. Mario Kart is fun. Hellblade was heart pulsing, thrilling, exciting, stimulating...engaging, yet I wouldn't call it fun. There are several games that I'd describe as being more fun than Hellblade, but they don't give me the same experience Hellblade does; as they're not meant to. And while Hellblade 1 doesn't have great replay value for me, it does for me what no other game has ever come close to doing. Fun is great, but sometimes I need something more than fun. I need something gripping and intense, and emotional. And that is Hellblade, and for that reason, it is gaming perfection, for me. Hellblade is fun the way Memento, or Monster's Ball, or Interstellar is "fun". And those movies transcend "fun". So, if Hellblade 2 is anything like the prequel, then it might very easily make its way into my top 5 games of all time, sitting right next to the 1st Hellblade.

technically and graphically, it's unprecedented. I played a bit this morning, and it's astonishingly realistic. And the combat! Wow, it really gets you; it's not for kids! Go for it, the game is amazing! I don't understand the testers who complain about the linearity of the game. We already knew it from the beginning, so how is it a flaw? How do you expect to make such a game in an open world? It's just impossible with the current console generations, maybe for the next one. What Ninja Theory has done is simply incredible, hats off to them!

I rolled credits on Hellblade 2 a little after finishing Final Fantasy XVI. Somewhere between these two is the perfect game. The escalation of boss battles was incredible in FFXVI, but the side missions did not keep pace with that. And the game is long. About half way through the story, I started skipping the dialogue for anything that wasn’t the main story. The combat’s fun but it relies so heavily on me moving the camera to keep up, even locked on. And whilst Final Fantasy is always visually stunning in the cut scenes, the main gameplay and side mission quest givers did not compare. If you could take the visual fidelity of Hellblade 2, those character performances, that combat camera for its kinetic energy and add that to FFXVIs combat and boss fights, average out the two game lengths to a 30 hour experience… Perfect action game.
@Nicostilus

Great review. Easy subscription to your channel! I just find it hilarious that your 3 dislikes are the 2 core gameplay elements and its length… at this point, should hellblade just be a movie?

I'm currently about 4 hours in and so far here are my thoughts: Stunning graphically, even the small things like Senua breathing when it's cold and seeing the breath, the landscapes and the weather/lighting is absolutely top notch. The environments and assets are all well realised. Sound is amazing just like the first game the stereoscopic 3d audio and the voice acting is brilliant. Puzzles are very easy and not as common as I thought. I would like more puzzle variety but I'm not finished with the game so hopefully there is more. Combat is a bit more basic than the first game but does feel more punchy. I think this game would Excel on Playstation with the Dualsense controller features or even when Xbox release the rumoured new controller with similar features. 30 FPS is a frustrating thing to have to deal with albeit the game is slow so it's not as bad as other more fast paced games. Too much walking I wish we had more control of the character and a improved move set but I played the first game so I expect this to be the case. So far it's definitely worth a play I'm intrigued to see where it goes. It's a good offering, not game is the year worthy but it's an solid 7.5/8 for me so far, my score may go up or down when I get to the end. One other thing that's bugging me is I am unable to take a screenshot with my elite series 2 in photo mode I wish they would add a second button to capture in game as the controller doesn't have the required button. Just a small thing but having to switch to a standard Xbox controller for photo mode is a bit annoying

The problem is - HB1 was all those things (visuals/audio/story-telling).... from what I took out of the reviews, that's all they have. It's meant to be game - and while some games can be more... at the very least, they should be a game. Edit: you said... let me tell you things I didn't like... the combat... then goes on to say how he loved the combat... the length... then goes on to say he wanted more.... this is something I was surprised to hear from Parris...as it doesn't ring true. Of course, he can love it, and that's fine... but there's a whole heap about the first game that I think is likely to have made it in the second... without even a comment. And then we get to the puzzles... so what was good?

#Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga was a visual & audio experience. A technical showcase of real-time rendering tech. I'm now curious to know if #NinjaTheory also used the full suite of the #Xbox Velocity Architecture (i.e. SFS, VRS, BCPack, DirectStorage, DirectML) with #unrealengine 5. 🤔

No matter how many documentaries they make about the puzzles and it being that way because that's how psychosis is they react to shapes and symbols they see and change the environment when things line up and how the world changes in front of her like with the bubbles you can't just take away a whole symptom in one of the main parts of psychosis... an experience in a journey it's not breath of the wild or God of War it's not a gamey gameplay kind of game I think if you know what to expect and keep your expectations in check it's an amazing experience and it does have replayability because the narrators make the next play through different it's good for at least two playthroughs ACG set 9 hours cuz you got to get all the faces and different things places to go there's hidden stuff Collectibles and pathways so you won't see everything in 6 hours or 7 hours but yeah hellbmade 3 was already green lit.. for 40a developers punching way above their weight class these guys knock it out of the park what's the best looking game ever made with great combat and a great story I thought the combat was excellent It's brutal and gritty

I just feel like with these very story driven cinematic games, why not just make a movie? Feel the same way about the sony games like that. No one really praises gameplay. Devs spend all this time and money creating graphics, when it all just could have been real.

I wish they would have just said it’s not a game but a graphics demonstration to what the hardware can achieve. The future games that use unreal can achieve this. Then just be looked at as what it is and that’s a demo of Xbox hardware potential. Definitely not a game to be reviewed.

IGN decided to score this an 8 out of 10: they were probably thinking it is a 9, but they reconsidered, as they fear to “get burned” by negative attitude. Who would believe that a depressingly boring and lack of any fun game for IGN is great in their eyes and review, And the same IGN gave Stellar Blade that is copiously fun gameplay wise from beginning to the end, and engrossing till one's finish the game, New Game Plus making one wanting to continue playing they gave a 7 out of 10. IGN are rubbish at reviewing games. Not criticising Hellblade 2 as it is a unique game and great to have developers that make unique experiences in video games for gamers to enjoy varieties, however also make the game fun to play. To hell with IGN reviews.

I feel like after over 4 years of production only to last less than 7 hours in a single playthrough and most of it being cutscenes would kinda disappoint me. It sounds more like a tech demo for what UE5 can do in terms of visually immersive storytelling. At least it’s selling for $50, so maybe that kinda makes up for it. Guess people who buy it should tame their expectations and go in knowing it’s more of an interactive movie than anything else.
