You have the best attitude about hitting bad shots, and I'm so glad that your transplant was a success and that you've channeled your passion into creating this channel to share with everyone. Hole 2 has no room for error and is the most visually intimidating hole I have ever seen. Hole 3, the downhill par 3, usually has a 20-40 mph wind blowing in to you. The wind is blowing up that hill so your ball just balloons up on you. Good times!

Great save, but what happened to the "Your swing doesn't matter" philosophy?
@NotAScratchGolfer
Жыл бұрын
Good question! It's always difficult to encapsulate my philosophy about this in something as pithy as a video title. I guess I would say it this way: My observation is that too many amateur golfers waste time going down a rabbit hole of self-guided "swing overhauls." I still maintain that learning how to pitch, chip, and putt will yield more immediate and meaningful gains for most golfers. And when it comes to the full swing, I still think too many golfers are trying to do too much. They watch instructional videos, they take bad advice from playing partners, etc. I've always found that a half-hour lesson with a pro leaves me with one or two simple things to work on that are actually incredibly helpful. As an example, after struggling with driver for a while (including a months-long stretch of rounds that I've been publishing on the channel recently), I had Gordon take a look at things and he concluded that my trail hand grip was too strong. That one observation immediately changed my ball flight meaningfully (from low hooks to high draws almost instantaneously). It wasn't a "swing change" and it didn't require me transforming my inside takeaway and all of my other problems. In that sense I'd say my "golf swing didn't matter."
@KnightsB4Bishops
Жыл бұрын
@Not A Scratch Golfer Gotcha. I would still consider a grip change to be a swing change though. A grip change can actually change several swing dynamics at an unconscious level. With the change, you finished the course substantially better on the back 9. Doesn't that show the swing does in fact matter? I know what you are trying to say though. Maybe better wording would be endless grinding on the range won't really help you. Another thing to note is in my experience the closer you get to scratch the more the swing does in fact matter. It's just not realistic to get up and down all the time or always save yourself from bad tee shots.

@NotAScratchGolfer
Жыл бұрын
I like this idea! It's difficult to compare Spyglass to Pebble. All things considered, I think Spyglass is a better collection of golf holes (and certainly a tougher routing). The opening holes on the coast are great and the inland parkland holes are spectacular. With that said, I don't think there's a better stretch of golf holes on Earth than 6-10 at Pebble. Not to mention the history that you can't help but feel when walking the holes at Pebble. If I had to choose a course to play my last round of golf, it would be Pebble. If I were lucky enough to play one of them every day, it would probably be Spyglass. Both 10/10 courses that I hope to play *several* more times :)
