Hey Jason, I was also employed as a part time funeral dude! Picked up deceased, delivered flowers, washed cars, dressed bodies, drove families... It was truly an honor to serve people during such trying times for them. My full time job was as a firefighter. I retired from the fire department after nearly thirty years. My last shift, upon leaving, I sat out in my pickup and cried. When you work at something for so many years it becomes a part of you. Now I am blessed to get to spend all my time with my family. I was 53 when I did it, back in 2010. Retired now, married a man who was also a truck driver, but local... gravel and construction. He FINALLY retired last June, full-time. The company he was working for, after he unofficially retired when he turned 62 (3 years ago), kept asking him to come back and help, and he didn't have the heart to say no, until last June when he decided he'd had enough of it.

@rhondaalbrecht

@@wavytiger1 Depends on your POV. I didn't find that to be the case. :-) I love to travel, always have been. No hesitation about jumping in my vehicle, and traveling cross-country on the spur of the moment, so long-haul was in my blood. Have done this since I was a child, when my parents would take us kids cross-country on trips. To me, growing up, that was normal. I'd wanted to learn to drive a big rig since I was in my 20s, when I worked in Safeway Stores' Distribution Center, in the Truck Repair Shop as a secretary (back then, that was the title... today, it's administrative assistant). So I was around the trucks, climbing in them to do some of my work that was required. I got promoted to Parts Manager and so it would be my responsibility to make sure those trucks got the parts needed for service and routine maintenance. That meant climbing on the rigs. So I wanted to learn to drive them. Because of the unions, I couldn't even start up a rig just for safety reasons, let alone just move it from one spot to another. The teamsters and mechanics had to do it. I was jealous. Not any more!

Congrats on your retirement from the dealership! I know it's scary to do all this, but I am sure you will do fine!!! Your both quick witted, that is part of what i love about your show. Southern humor is awesome and the way you two interact with each other and with Mary Carl, just love it.

I did that with my children were small and I still do it today... I live with my son and his family wife and two children.... And we sit and have dinner maybe not always together that it might be working but we are at the table having dinner ....doing homework..... Watching a good TV show or movie..... I like family feud my grandson likes to wrestling so we compromise.....

You don't know how much I look forward to your videos. I'm disabled and can't cook but watching you take care of animals, gardening and watching your day to day life is so entertaining to me. I couldn't understand how you could work and take care of everything the way you do so congratulations on retiring from the parts manager. Wishing you all much success and blessings on your new life.

Just made your egg Custard pie for the 1st time tonight. We had pork roast, Rosemary potatoes, greens, cornbread, & pie. It was a big hit. We love y'all! Bring on the coghill cooking channel or anything you want. We just love y'all and whatever you do, that's what we want.

Congratulations!! There’s no better feeling. I resigned just shy of 11 years back in October. It’s scary, but well worth it, especially when you can be home with your family and support yourself!
