John, thank you for the 12 1/2 years of hard work that you did for our company, you were an important part during the years of our biggest growth and we appreciate that. We are thankful that God has blessed our company every day for 42 years and trust Him for the years ahead, and pray that He will bless your new endeavor also. Our continued prayers for your family, Mike and Kim Cook.

You lost a wonderful employee because you didn't want to listen to someone that had your back for all the years. Sad you guys basically pushed him out. You will find people like this are very hard to come by. Think about this when the next time someone comes to you on how to change or fix things.

@@bradh7472 your ignorance is amazing. There are two sides to every story and John is really good at making his version of reality known. Mike and Kim, however, will never stoop that level. John was blessed to be able to work there and learn and grow as he did.

Mike's company is going through a common issue, going from 'Mom and Pop' operation, where everyone knows everyone well, to full corporate entity. Many companies fail at this point. But if they can make it through, it will continue to grow. I also had to leave a company (rather dramatically) for this reason.

While I've never personally been in a situation - where I worked with family, I know that it often has its own set of challenges. Add to that the tragic death of a love one, figuring out life after the loss of said love one and navigating thru the new dynamics of everyday life had to be stressful for all. I sincerely hope that now that the employment relationship has been fractured - obviously with some hard feelings - that as Christians and good people that in time some wounds will heal and that the adults can restore their "family" dynamics to the point that your children's relationship to their maternal grandparents is strong and happy as it was when things were going smoother. There will always be a multitude of ways to make a living (jobs) and in an ideal world one should seek out one that makes them happy. There is no substitute for a the special relationship between a child and a set or two of loving grandparents and vise versa. Best of luck to all and I've really enjoyed the videos you have put out the 18 months or so since I discovered you.

John, thanks for your videos. Years ago my father and I ran a saw mill and worked a bit in the woods with an older iron mule, jonsered saws and a 10 cord self loader. It was a side gig and I went another way after college but sawdust still courses through my veins so I really liked watching the newer equipment in your videos. Given the pressures of working in the woods I truthfully was surprised the vids lasted as long as they did. I wish you the best in the future. Working in the woods is … work which will help you wherever you go. Coincidentally, a Cook crew is working very close to my subdivision and there was quite a plume of black smoke from the cut this morning. I’m hoping it wasn’t serious and there were no injuries. I really like to see a Logger make it so I also wish the best to the Cooks as well. Best, Scott

I always enjoyed your chipper videos because my dad was a supervisor at a chip plant here in Maine from the early 70’s to 1998 when it was closed due to the paper company they made chips for “Boise Cascade” sold out to a Chinese company. They made high quality chips for making paper. They chipped hardwood (except oak) and hemlock. It was a nice setup. Two cranes that rode on a track. Under the cranes was a main chain that carried the logs to the debarker. When the logs came out of the debarker they rode on another chain to the chipper. Their was another crane which believe it or not was electric!!! That helped the logs go into the throat of the chipper. Once the chips came out they went way up high on a conveyor and dropped onto a series of big steel shaker screens. Any chips too big went back thru a re chipper. Chips too small and sawdust went to the sawdust pile. The good quality chips went back up a conveyor and into the blower that blew them into the big possum belly trailers. The chipper ran on electricity. ALOT of electricity lol. So with that being said I totally understand what you went through. I have been in similar situations myself. But I always look at it that you only live once. Sometimes change is the last thing you wanna do after doing something most of your life. Especially if you have a big family that relies on you. But I have found that change is good. And just by your facial reactions it’s pretty obvious that your VERY happy with what you are doing now. And I’m happy for you. I think once you get your new adventure in life all situated you should do some videos showing us how you do tile work ETC. sorry for the long message lol. Good luck to you and looking forward to seeing your next video. God bless you and your family and as always WORK SAFE 🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎

John I'll be happy to watch whatever you want to post. It's been my experience that the larger a company gets the more they tend to forget who got them there. Those companies don't usually last for the long haul. They tend to not be able to keep people working for them. I'm glad you are happy with the change. Being happy is important. I hope your new work keeps you busy, happy and fulfilled- financially and otherwise. Still working on the new house? hey, you can still be That Chipper Guy, just show some shots of you using nippers to edge a shape out of some tile. Would that make you That Nipper Guy?
