I've done some research. Apparently bacon is a bit much for this thing to completely eliminate the smoke. And it's supposed to work by letting the water snuff out the burning fat and oils before they can produce smoke. With bacon it's just too much grease. Any other meat it should work just fine. Here's an excerpt from the article I just read: The slanted grilling grate on power smokeless grills directs fat and oils towards a drip pan underneath, disposing of them before they can create smoke. All of that sounds good and fun, but how something is designed is not always how it functions. Do power smokeless grills actually work? For the most part, yes. The slanted, non-stick grill system is effective at limiting smoke creation, however, most models, even the high-end ones, tend to still produce a bit of smoke with fattier meats. Using the force of gravity and a nonstick surface, they are still no match for bacon grease. They simply can’t channel it away quickly enough. However, I want to emphasize that the smoke they produce is a limited amount, and with meat like chicken, there should be none.

@@Ok-mi9ed I did, but I'll try again. The clue is in the name, 'less' means exactly that, _less_ than the normal amount. If they had advertised a 'smoke-free' grill you could expect there to be zero smoke. I'm not saying that a smoke-free grill exists. I used the example of stainless steel, which people often mistakenly believe will never rust (aka stain) when in reality it only rusts less than regular steel. Products that use '-less' in their naming are not the same as those that claim '-free'. And again, as far as I know there's no indoor 'smoke-free' grill that exists, however I can say with certainty if you buy one that is called 'smokeless' thinking there's going to be no smoke you're going to be disappointed.

If I remember correctly from watching someone review a similar item, the whole "smokeless" is actually along the the lines of less smoke rather than smoke free. Will there still be some smoke? Possibly, but it won't be nearly as much as if you were doing it on a griddle or even a skillet without a lid. Appliances such as this that have "smokeless" in their name are not always going to 100% get rid of the smoke. They are designed to reduce it drastically to reduce the possibility of setting of a smoke alarm. I've set off my smoke alarm cooking burgers on a griddle or skillet bcuz I didn't have an appliance like this.

Smokeless indoor grills use electricity, which does not create fumes. Whereas outdoor grills have open grates that allow the drippings to fall into the firebox, smokeless indoor grills have closed grates and direct drippings to a grease management system that prevents the grease from burning and creating smoke.

A smokeless grill is any indoor appliance that mimics an outdoor grill's cooking process, yet do not let off enough smoke to trigger your smoke alarm. This is probably going to be a 'hot take', but the "Smoke-Less" stuff isn't going to actually be smokeless, because of misunderstood semantics. They once made a "smokeless ashtray". It was a vacuum built into an ashtray with vents to pull the smoke through. The smoke then went through an air filter, filtering out all the stuff that make smoke smoke, and emitted filtered air. The "Smoke-Less" stuff only decreases the amount of smoke from cooking. It will never completely eliminate it, because it doesn't use the aforementioned technique. But if you put bacon in a frying pan, you'll see more smoke than you would if you put it on the "Smoke-Less" grill (notice the hyphen.. that's the misunderstood semantics).
