I absolutely agree that reading Dune in a day is not the best way to comprehend this type of story. But 20 hours is the time it takes to read it aloud and with actual acting put in. People tend to read times faster when there's no need to speak, so the task of finishing it in a day it is possible, though difficult and kinda not the way I'd suggest to enjoy the story and it's themes.

I've read dune several times and love it and all the prequels and sequels. It's not a hard read like some think. Downbelow station by C. J. Cherryh was the hardest book for me to get thru for some reason. I think I started it about 4 or 5 times in a 15 year period before I finally finished it. I only read Scifi.

It's technically impossible to read a book that has around 600 to 800 pages (even sometimes 1000 pages for pocket editions here in France), and it's VERY tiring, and Dune is not an easy comic book. to understand, it's a F*CKING BIG NOVEL WITH A TOLKIEN-LIKE COMPLEXITY !! So if someone manages to read an 800-page book in 24 hours and understand everything without getting tired, it's a sign that this person is an alien !😮

Never finished the book. The appendices are part of the story and the 1st appendix is a prologue. More to read!

To all the haters: Average reading speed is 250 wpm. Dune is 200,000 words. Comes out to 13 hours and 20 minutes. At 10.5 hours she’s reading at around 317 words per minute. Totally possible to both read and retain what’s read at that pace in one days Speed readers hit around 700wpm.

Hey everyone she had the audiobook playing at 2X speed, notice the headphones on her head. Still got to give it to her though for sitting there for almost 11 hours pretending to read a book. Pretty impressive actually. Anyways a lot of people do this now. Especially people that are reading a book for school. Make sense when you think about it.

As someone who both reads and listens to audiobooks, I doubt that's the case. I can read faster than I can listen.

Took me 2 and a half weeks. And for me that’s like zipping from one edge of the universe to the other and back in 90 seconds
