With what you talked about Eggman. He felt more like his IDW version, which has had more moments like the game. The difference being is that in the comics we see his thought process, we see him grow and learn. This is definitely reflected in the game. As a sidenote on KZitem titling, I think the way you titled this video is a REALLY good idea- giving just a small taste of the opinion or commentary, almost setting up the intrigue for someone to click with why you felt the way you do about the game you're completing. I enjoyed the hell out of this game. Anything wrong, is a minor nitpick at best and a small issue at worst that a player will have addressed at some point. Loved the story, environments were beautiful, interactions were funny, cute and intriguing. Fights are fun as hell as well(especially Boss 3). I hope that, this game, is the new standard we have for Sonic games going forward. I agree with Jirard's Completionist rating of: Complete it. i know i'm probably alone in this, but i kind of appreciate that objects unload at a somewhat short distance. to me, it not only helped with choice paralysis in trying to figure out what to go for, but it also became a key part of figuring out *how* to obtain the rewards. like i'd mark a memory token in the map, follow the beam, and then use the pop-in to determine which objects were close to it to either backtrack to the beginning of that challenge, or figure out a way to skip the challenge altogether. rails being rendered from a much greater distance made them the really helpful guides to know if an area would be relevant at the moment, or to figure out traversal within an island. maybe in the future they could add an optional setting to increase the render distance in more powerful hardware, but i did enjoy playing with the pop in as a feature regardless of it existing due to technical limitations.

That's the main problem with Sonic. Instead of building upon what they already made to make each game better, they keep switching it up and starting over, while also just making awful games regardless. They should've been like Mario or Zelda, and keep building upon the gameplay style they already know and keep improving. But I hope I'm wrong and they use the foundation from Frontiers and make this style even better for Sonic Adventure 3. Why I think they should stick with this style for SA3 cuz I just think it fits cuz SA1 was already semi-openworld. @@A-Dubs398 they confirmed that going forward this open zone concept is what they want to build on so hopefully that means the next couple games are going to build on what worked for Frontiers. I totally agree about the 2D stages. It feels like the momentum was as borked up in it as it was in Forces and, to a lesser extent, Generations. Momentum doesn't work in any realistic way and the physics would randomly break whenever you accidentally add an input to the scripted sections (going through loops, trying to attack an enemy when you shouldn't, etc). The game is still really fun but I kept noticing it on stage 1-6 (which is when I also noticed that the boost doesn't kill enemies anymore lol)

I'm at 17:46 and loving the review. Though I can agree on the reuse of Chemical Plant/Green hill assets is blargh. I actually got over that when I realized what some of the levels were. Then realizing how well the assets play into that. Some spoiler's for those who wanna avoid. It's like a hazy memory. You remember the layout, but not specifics and Sonic's brain filter's over it with thing's he knows down to heart. It's why the assets work on a few levels. Most notably. 2-6, which is just SA2's Sky Rail section. Chaos Island also having green jungle. 1-1 being Windmill Isle Day Act 1 in Unleashed (PS3/XBOX Version) apparently too. But I can't lie, 4-1 made my jaw drop after the first initial loop, the balloon and Egg-Robo, with a chemical plant asset use only to RECOGNIZE the level layout of Metal Harbour at that point made my heart drop. It's just a tingle, but the closer you look the haze clears and despite the asset reuse, you REMEMBER what level it's calling back too and it made my heart as a Sonic fan and ESPECIALLY an SA2 fan skip a beat.

I was cautiously optimistic after Forces and Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric. But this game, it has SA2 mechanics, Sonic 06 music, Sonic Generations Mini games, and an open world that is more than just a "hub" . It's the first time I felt lifted since playing playing Sonic Adventure. The first time it was with Sonic 1 back in 91. The characters also show development. Yes - there issues with the tame - but overall I've been finding myself enjoying the game too much to care for its shortcomings.

I disagree about the cyber space levels I honestly enjoyed them and they weren't as bad as people were making it seem, I especially like the skate board sections those were really fun and the branching paths in stages are great as well.

I thought that the circle farming method broke the game, but It was fishing all this time

Frontiers definitely seems like one of the most painless completion journeys in a platformer I'm only on island 2 right now and I cant get enough of it

20:02 If you S ranked 1-2, you would very much associate which song with it. For most players who want to S rank it. They'll be hearing Flowing into the Light for some time.

So... the final boss bit. That's totally inspired by Ikaruga, right? Looked like a ship that color flips to absorb light or dark with a meter that fills to fire a super attack. This isn't bad, I just think it's sick and we should talk about that!

Over my years as a viewer, I’ve found you and I share a similar love of Sonic, Jirard, so your opinion on this means a lot to me. Thank you for all this work, and thank you for making me so excited to try this out tonight for the first time!

An update to arcade mode that adds a boss rush in between the stages and a trophy for all S ranks and red rings would’ve just added that much replay & value to the mode

Aha, I found something you didn’t do! :P You have probably noticed, that the fish in the fishing minigame are on a cycle, meaning you always get the same fish in the same order and the cycle repeats once you get through. But the scrolls for the Kokos are one time only, so what do you get in their stead upon a second cycle? A chest containing an attack seed. And because you fished it from the lake, it gets registered in the list of fish with its own description.

idk if it's just me and how I tend to go through open world games, but the interconnectivity of all the rails, pads, other platforming, and movement on the open world was just so fun and compelling for me , that I consistently ended up having a vast surplus of memory tokens and other resources on each island by the time I remembered that I was supposed to be completing the story, as well. Especially by the time I got the hang of the sometimes janky (but not un-fun) physics and collision detection. Also glad I wasn't the only one making the Lo-Fi beats to Fish to joke 🤣
