8.65kg isn’t really heavy. That’s a ridiculous statement. Bikes at that price point are sold with fairly basic alloy wheels. Upgrade the wheels, saddle, seat post and pedals and you’d drop below 8kg without any difficulty. Below 8kg is quite light. Electronic shifting and disc brakes add weight too remember.

What a funny test, as well as rating. A road bike should be as stiff as possible. A sports car is also stiffer than a city car! You drive most of the time on the road and not on bike paths. I think you're looking for more of an endurance bike. If the bike is stiffer, then it is also much more agile. Now to the subject of weight. I would not advise anyone to let the issue of weight in the purchase decision. The weight is only important if you participate in races. The time differences are so minimal, whether you need 30sec longer or not, does not matter. People rather look at how the geometry is and whether you feel comfortable!

I am sorry you didn’t know what bike you need. You need a hybrid city bike with front suspension. While this is a race bicycle with very narrow tires for going very fast. You wouldn’t be able to handle the speed of this bike anyway. The stiffness of this bike isn’t a problem for athletes with conditioned tendons, bones and muscles.

I feel like the eTap config on this bike is what really lets it down - the 105 version which is identical except for that is three thousand dollars cheaper and feels like a much more reasonable deal there.

I agree, the Etap pairing doesn't do this bike any favors, not worth paying 3k more just for electronic shifting.

I have the Bianchi Aria , which is the Aero frame offering at the lower/mid range. I'm still not overly impressed with it overall, similar to the sprint the finishing kit is bog standard and not what I expected for the money. I do think the frame is of good quality very stiff and aero, but can certainly be a very rough ride! Will be interesting to see if a set of mid range carbon aero wheels will make a difference to the ride quality 🤔
@pattnwia

Yea I totally agree, I think putting a set of quality carbon aero wheels with tubeless setup will improve the ride and decrease the weight. However that adds to the total cost. Also changing the seatpost from alu to carbon will also help absorb some vibrations, but that's just more work and more money. :(

Kind of a crappy thing to do by the bike store. If they think they have a potential $6000+ bike sale they should be doing all they can to keep the buyer from running away.

This was helpful. Being unable to locate an Aria in my size, I was interested in this. Appears to replace their Sempre model. Their's a hidden Italian bike tax due to perceived panache. I paid $150 assembly fee for an Aria that did not fit. The Aria does show up in the top 20 fastest bikes on strava.

Glad you are able to return it. At that price point, I would be raging if I had a >8kg carbon bike. It would cost a lot to upgrade all the parts to drop the weight, and even then, it probably wouldn't make it to

Yea exactly, the price value for this bike is way too expensive. Plus the effort to upgrade it, rerouting hydraulic cables if upgrading the bar, makes it totally not worth it.
