I'm chilling in my compression socks from Bombas right now. What's your favorite recovery tip?

how long should you wear the compression socks? 1, 2, 3 hours?
@MitchBoyer

@@michaelandan4084 good question! I don’t have an exact time, but I usually leave them on for a few hours after the ride. Sometimes I don’t take them off until it’s time for bed.

Like your content Mitch great ride. Kudos Always stop and get Food and hydration. Never try to loose weight on a ride of that size. Loose weight on regular days and normal eating not that you where trying too. FYI i suck at loosing weight . Carbs , sugar for me every 500 calories burned take a gel or something. I really like Gatorades new Electrolyte drink its got everything you loose sweating in it. There are many other supplements that do the same thing. Off the bike back home protein and carbs real food. Beef is the best iron,protein, b12. I also take Zinc, magnisum, vitamin c, D3 and a mens one a day. I drink alot of skin milk also keeps the calcium levels up and great source of all essential proteins and carbs.

Thanks for watching! 100% agree, definitely don't wanna try to lose weight on a ride! I took in about 80g of carbs per hour, but I only packed enough for 8 hours 😅 My big error was that the ride took *much* longer than I anticipated. Turns out, elevation really slows you down haha.

Awesome video as always!!As a beginner rider, how long did it take you before you attempted your first 100 miles? Was that on your Cannondale or BMC?

Thanks dude! My first proper century was my Key West ride from Miami. It’s was 134 miles (but only 300ft of elevation because Florida 😜). It happened about 2 years after getting my first road bike, and I did it on my BMC ✌️ there’s a video if you wanna check it out!

I'm horrible about those things. For example I did my planned double century today, er... Yesterday at this point and what did it do? Jumped in the car drove as quickly as possible to the nearest gas station on the way he so my SAG driver, my wife, could use the restroom. I did remember when I got there to mix up my recovery drink and drank that the rest of the way home. But that was followed by a shower then Taco Bell, I wanted some pizza but they were all closed by the time we got back to town, then I layed down on the couch to play a quick game or two on my phone before emptying the car of all the leftovers fuel, water, and gear that I left there so I could shower and eat first. Next thing I know I woke up at 1 am and instead of going to bed I had to take care of the car. I mean we got hit with a rain storm for the 10-15 miles right in the middle of the ride andy shoes were soaked so I had to get them taken care of. Now I'm about ready to get to bed at 1:40. But of course I had to watch the latest Mitch video first. So in summary.... No 1, half make on 2 as Taco Bell takes away half point from the recovery drink, no 3, 4 is not likely going to be as good as it should be, and I'm going to say history tells me that there will be no 5, at least not till Monday when I go to spin class and just spin the legs and not work.... maybe. Anyway...good night now.

Love the vibs in your videos. Nice work. Gibraltar is a great climb. Got to connect all the dirt next time for a big SB loop! Fueling is one of the big things I have worked on in 2022. I now set a time reminder on my Dash every 15 mins to get down 1/4th of about 70-100 carbs per hour. Using liquid cals and gels makes it easier when the tough gets going. I assume 9 hrs in the saddle meant a lot of full pockets but hey, you get lighter as you go!

This was so helpful. great information. My question is how soon after the ride do I need to put on compressions socks, refuel with carbs/protein, and stretch. Scenario: I ride the Silver Comet Trail in west Georgia but the trail is a 45 minute car ride from home. Can the post ride recovery tips occur at home 45 minutes after a long ride (75-120 miles) or should I pack the recovery items in my car and begin the recovery in the trailhead parking lot before I head home on the 45 minute drive?
