I have decided to return to my F-Zero inspired prototype following the release of F-Zero 99! Original video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tp6Au6Jpr6uBq20 G-Minus thrusts players into an electrifying anti-gravity racing experience! Boost through rings to gain speed and utilize the innovative air control system to dominate the competition, both in the air and on the track! Play solo and go for the fastest possible lap time, or race against your friends in online multiplayer! The demo currently offers one track and vehicle, but if the interest is there, we would love to add more vehicles and tracks in the future. The game uses UDP for online multiplayer. To play with friends, you will need to port forward and create a firewall rule to allow inbound connections using the UDP protocol. For more information, please refer to 6:05. Alternatively, you can also disable your firewall while playing - but I don't encourage doing that! Please be aware that this is a prototype - bugs are to be expected, but I plan on continuing to work toward polishing the demo further. Enjoy! - Pattrigue

very good physics, can you make video and tell in more detail how it works technically?

I'm glad to see projects like these coming out the woodwork. Nintendo finally gave F-Zero something and right now there's a surge of games that are more accurate to F-Zero's 3D style. Glad not to have to wait (years) for something like Aero GPX for example (also rooting for that game's success.)

It’s game dev nature to randomly start working on other projects for a lil bit. Sorta like Dani and other indie devs. I guess it leads to less burnout and I respect that, or MAYBE THIS IS A SECRET VIBRANT VENTURE UPDATE.

This is just a hot take but I'm thinking it'd be more intense if this kind of game has hot wheels levels of hazards like speeding through traffic or avoiding giant spiders or dinosaurs. Any hazard designed specifically to destroy as much players as possible

I'm trying to recreate F-Zero also. How I landed here. DK30 game jam just started, theme is "gotta go fast" and I had just finished playing F-Zero X for the first time on the switch N-64 emulator. The Grip/weight/acceleration-top speed mechanics is what caught my eye. As well as deceleration anytime you steer. I was amazed by the amount of depth to the gameplay ceiling they packed into a racing game.

This, Aero GPX, and XF Extreme are good reasons to be nostalgic.

Hey this video has some months now but uuuh... how did you get the GX track to work with your project? Did you do something special with the collisions?

Can you elaborate on how you utilized the barycentric coords? I'm trying to make something similar for a game jam, and I don't quite understand how you used this to make the machine gravity direction change.
