I bought them directly through Mike from DRONE. I spoke to him over Facebook messenger from his DRONE Trigger System FB page. He doesn't use FB all the time so might take a while to respond and I think he either just makes to order these days or makes some of them and sells what he has, not 100% sure. He also sometimes puts stuff up on eBay under the seller kittoys-2012

just got a chance to watch the full video. LOL THOSE MICS!!! haha, that's some serious high fidelity! Samples came out great! Those Club-JAM mini kicks actually sound quite amazing acoustically. BTW, where did you get the hoop guards? I'm using the pintech rubber stuff, which kinda sucks. Those look much nicer.

Haha I know, right? Something like £15000 worth of mics for some "decent" sounding samples 😂 using a better room would have yielded the best results but it did the job for my first go haha! The hoop guard is actually just an Evans EQ patch, the nylon one (same as I used on the head). Was just improvising with what I had!

Question about the drum riser. When I use a bass drum lift, the beater goes way beyond 90 degrees. How did you get the riser and the beater to work so they can hit approx 90 degrees? When I get the pedal closer, the chain of the pedal starts to hit the rim. Thanks!

I'm back! Just subscribed... Was surprised I wasn't. This set sounds great! Right now I'm trying to figure out whether I'm getting the Yamaha/Tama or PDP mini bop kit. Yamaha has that FT snare but I've only heard it sound good in one or two videos. And then there's Tama... I feel like Tama and Yamaha have incredible quality control but Tama has them beat right now with finishes.

Thanks for the video! I'm planning on building a similar kit; and this video is the proof that it can be done.
I've got a Tama kit I'm not using, considering converting it to full electronic. It'd be for live performance, so I'd want it to be as good as possible, but am also strictly budgeted and lost in the options of triggers. What are your bullet point recommendations? Ease of installation is also a fairly big deal, as I'm completely inexperienced in this.

I bought the wood grain wrap from eBay - got one from Amazon first that was a bad match, ended up searching around for a "cherry wood" vinyl wrap for the colour. The silver wrap was from a local shop but it's pretty much everywhere online and the tint wrap from eBay (though it's also available on Amazon and many other sites, the brand was Oracal and it's the mid-grey tint).

I got it from eBay and I believe the search term/name was something like "cinnamon cherry woodgrain". It's just a vinyl wrap which is self-adhesive, so not a "proper" drum wrap and I just wrapped over what was already on the drum. It was nice and cheap though, got enough left to do more if I need to.

@@TheeDrumWorkshop hi, do you think it is possible to disassemble the roland pd140ds digital multi trigger and mount it on a normal acoustic snare drum? ... obviously by mounting a mesh head on it
@TheeDrumWorkshop
2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yeah, it should be easy enough. Once you take the head off, there's just a little plastic stopper in there that needs removing to get the trigger basket out. Then you could place it in another shell (it just sits over the bearing edge). The only difference between the Roland shell and your own will be that I think the plastic stopper is meant to stop the trigger basket from spinning round, but I don't think it'd be a big deal at a guess!

I haven't worked that out yet because I haven't been gigging. I was using the 16" conversion and an Alesis Strike floor tom pad when I was gigging before and it was a tight fit in the cases, not gonna work for this!

I already own a club jam mini that im thinking of converting. Do you have any affordable recommendations that require a bit less elbow grease for kick drum conversions?
@TheeDrumWorkshop
2 жыл бұрын
I've not tried a ton of kick triggers, but I reviewed an Oval one that was cheap and worked well a while back. I've not used the Jobeky ones but they seem quite reasonably priced. A lot of the available options should most likely perform pretty well, kicks are the simplest kind of trigger since they're just one piezo that can be offset, unless you're aiming for some kind of larger dampening solution.

I made a 20" conversion with a Silentstroke head. 2 pillows inside. Evans eq patch to protect head. Ported front head. Roland rt10k external trigger mounted at 12 o'clock. Triggers surprisingly well and is very quiet. Feels as good or better than the kd140 and kd120 that Ive tried.

Thanks! I'm using the Goedrum hi-hat controller, along with a Yamaha PCY135 cymbal pad (just the pad, their hi-hat controller doesn't work on Roland modules). @@TheeDrumWorkshop Question. I saw you take the digital snare trigger out and wrap the shell. Is it possible to take that trigger and place it in a different snare shell all together? Or are there complications with doing that?
@TheeDrumWorkshop
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, pretty sure you'd be able to. The main thing to watch out for is probably that little white plastic insert that holds the trigger in place in the shell. There's a chance it might move about without that, but it also might not, I'm not sure haha! Pretty sure people have mounted other Roland baskets in their acoustic shells successfully before.
