Richlite is paper and resin, so trees are still involved. Gibson had to use it because of that raid by the Feds where they accused them of importing illegal Ebony and Rosewood… as far as I know they were not (rumors abound that it was a political hit job because they wouldn’t endorse some fat cat politician and they abused their authority to retaliate.)

@@mindpyre1189 I'm not interested in saving trees at all. I was only commenting that the Richlite fingerboards I've played have been pretty OK. The only rub I have with Richlite is that Gibson will charge the same amount of $$ as they would for a true Ebony fingerboard.

I have the white sparkle in my collection. I chose white because I always wanted a white Paul, so having it with sparkles was an extra plus. I also have the Moonless Night. You have to be careful with these sparkle finishes, they chip pretty easily. I went to the big guitar show here a few years ago, and there was a shop there that had all of the colors, which was cool. I might have chosen a different color, but I thought all of the other color options were too pastel for my taste.

Hadn’t even heard about them but I was in GC buying a Marshall DSL 40CR and it was hiding out behind the counter and could only see the back and knowing the shape and seeing the binding on the back I asked if I could check it out and when the guy picked it up and turned it around I instantly fell in love with it, then I played it and it was a perfect example with zero defects needless to say I got a Marshall and a Les Paul that night lol 😂. Also I had a kinda connection with the serial number as well, first 4 #’s “2112”

It’s amazing that he has so many interests. I do have a gluttony of guitars for a player (albeit of 40 years). Like mid teens Gibson CS Fender CS and Martin CS and a few others. And always another one I’d like to get and there’s a few I know I don’t need but how to get a hard-on over an obscure random run of the mill regular Gibson (not in an offensive way at all) but like for somebody who sees so many guitars to have all these random interests must be cool. I wish I did. If I were gonna get something else it would be an upgrade kn something I already have and I’m sure I have a fraction of the collection he does. That’s what I mean. I guess I just wish had more interests in more random obscene models. I like to learn about them but to me I’d never play this guitar so to me I just have no real interest in owning something I’d likely never play. Maybe player vs collector or player/collector is truly in the heart. In my heart I believe I need all my guitars and they’re all very different and do different things. If I had 2 that were the same I’d get rid of the lessor ya know. Maybe I should be a guitar dealer🤔 I wouldn’t get high on my own supply unlike…. Update- just realized I have 18 guitars and I play Em blues about 90% of the time (obviously the rest I’m Am) and I need all my guitars. Perhaps if I broaden my horizon’s (not that I would cause I’m a purest and all) but I could possibly see needing more guitars. No guitar store for me
