I bought the handleless one for thick hair (red) for my daughter with crazy thick hair (for her little tween hands) and the handleless one (pale pink) for fine hair for me. She now easily detangles her own FULL head of hair by herself, and I'm only losing strands that need to come out 😁

I have the opposite hair type, literally 1a I think, and I would say still this is a lifesaver. A couple of years ago my hair went below my hip (if I say down it would lay in my lap). I don't think it compares to brushing 4c hair, but the ease to work through all that long hair was wonderful.
@Listen2me400

For years I avoided getting the Tangle Teaser. I watched Mo Knows Hair recent video and she suggested it. I went on Amazon and realized after reading some of the comments that they are not all the same. There is a fine and fragile, an original, I had to make sure I got the one that said “Tangle Teaser, Thick and Curly Detangling Hair Brush. Initially I was going to get the purple one, which is the Ultimate Detangler same as you and Mo but that one had a handle and in the past the brushes I purchased with handles are awkward and I end up holding it at the top where the bristles are. I ended up getting the Thick and Curly one without the handle. I just tried it this week. Had no problems detangling BUT, it too slipped out of my hands. I guess that comes with the territory. I like it though.
@nevamoore5192

Your hair is beautiful! I have 4b, 4c hair too and I use the same brush. I go through my tangles at a slow pace and let gravity take its course with the brush. I find I have much less hair in the brush when I'm done. Patience + Technique + Tangle Teaser = Hair still left on your head.

The tangle teezer has been my savour for getting rid of tangles out of my hair as a kid. I have very dense and straight hair that tangles easily and the tangle teezer was one of the few things that actually helped with tangles (and it didn't hurt my hair). I had my tangle teezer for years till i had to change it. I'm not the kind of person to spend money on anything but the tangle teezer is so worth it.

As a long time viewer who is as invested in Fluffnugget as I am my own hair, I'm so happy you found a detangling tool you like bc finger detangling is just not it when you are in a rush. Personally, I weirdly loooooove the original Tangle Teezer with a handle but HATE the one for coily hair. It was very unflexible and tiny and my god the breakage! I have 3c hair btw so you'd think I would prefer the curly hair one, but for me the original is the way to go.

I have to agree with you. I have the original, the one for all hair types, I actually bought it by mistake. It works great for my fine hair and doesn’t make any sounds either. The teeth are nice and flexible. I almost went to order the “correct one” but your comment just affirmed my belief that it works just fine. I was worried seeing so many comments about it breaking hair off. But I use mine only with a prepoo detangler while wet.
@cocohatab9746

@@simplyevanescent I have super thick and coarse hair so I've tried A LOT of detangling brushes, only for most of them to see my thick 4a (turns out I'm type four actually; who knew?) and run the other way. This has made me gravitate toward finger detangling with a slippery conditioner. However my top 2 detangling brushes are now the Felicia Leatherwood brush (USE SMALLER SECTIONS WITH THIS BRUSH AND DO NOT USE IT ON DRY HAIR!!!!!!) and the Wet Brush paddle brush with boar bristles.

Congrats on the sponsorship 😊 I use the Dollar Tree version until I can invest in the official, yet still know these benefits with having my fine (read: fragile) 4C low porosity strands. As long as my hair is super saturated (after wash/conditioning/etc), I'll apply leave in to get slip to a section and then *GENTLY* use it. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get the real one though from your review... still I stay very impressed with results of the cheap one and how it is faster and more thorough itis than finger detangling *without* ripping my hair out as well as getting curls to pop. Key though... _being gentle AND patient_ (can't stress this enough) to still take my time with my locs (ex. working ends to root while avoiding too many complete passes through to reduce overall manipulation) has made all the difference in length retention and minimizing splits along the shaft; the tool definitelyhelps with the reducing overall time spent in my hair so thus remains aligned with reduced overall manipulation. Thank you for reviewing the official product 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
