I have been to a few and sometimes the company employees will know the history of the owner. Last one I went to, it was a couple who were married for 40 plus years but the husband passed before the woman. She was 95. They never had kids, he worked for the city and she was a socialite of some sort. I picked up a dress from the 80s that she wore to a banquet. And her wedding dress was there from the 70s that she sewed herself. ♥️♥️♥️

The owner passing away or moving to a nursing home/assisted living facility are two common reasons for an estate sale. If you’re really, REALLY curious, you could search your local tax assessor’s online property tax records by the address to get the owner’s name and then do a google search to see if an online obituary comes up.

I helped my brother with an estate sale last year. His wife and family were having a house built but he messed up and they were heading to divorce🤐They were able to get rid of most of their furniture and I was able to sell a lot of my clothing and my son's old power wheels. They have since reconciled so that's good. But yes most estate sales is due to husband or wife passing or going into nursing home

7 months of the year visitors assume we collect nothing but antique ( primitive style) furniture and kitchen gadgets. Truth be told, half of our approximately 3 car garage barn is Fall and Christmas decor 🥰 not just any..it has to fit into the cabin style ..on 24 December this year we will celebrate 40th anniversary..so it has been a long time collecting. Like the other commenter said vintage is typically considered 20 years or older. So it is just about research and becoming familiar with styles and techniques of different time periods. And sometimes you can tell by the quality, where it was made, etc. But lots of research and learning (which I’m still doing!)

Hiya Jenna, I was going crazy watching you at the sale as Our home is 90% vintage (including dishes, cookware, etc) as is my wardrobe. I would’ve hit the vinyl 1st, then housewares, then clothing but I know my stuff & what it’s worth now (hard goods have dropped drastically from the 90s when you’d get insane $$$). I switched out handles on a small, tall 30s cabinet my husband had after we got married around late 90-early 91, crazy to see the *exact* 1 on the Justin bag (now you can date it exactly😃)! I don’t think the 1st denim jacket is vintage. That distressed style didn’t become pop up until around ‘09 (poss 08, *think* Balmain started doing it after seeing the underground people who DIY’ed it since... forever😆), mass marketed much later. Have a lovely weekend! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇🦇🦇
