A Good tip, so there isn't as much moisture, is to strain your pumpkin puree in cheesecloth overnight. You get a thicker and more condensed flavor. I use this especially when baking pumpkin pie. My pies never seemed to set right. I would get moisture settling on top of the pie, too. I learned this tip and it fixed all my problems. I hope you see this David and also if anyone tries this trick, let me know! I hope this helps!

Or, if you're okay with soy -- add some tofu to your batter. You won't taste it, and it will help bind and thicken it up I'm vegan, and all I do is add unstrained, homemade pumpkin purée to some medium-firm tofu in a blender, some sugar and spices, and it's ready to go!. Easy as pie ;)

Once I moved out of the house and started cooking my mom would tell me all the time how much better food taste when someone else cooks it. When you were talking about the dip it just reminded me of that. I lost my mom a few months ago so I am being so nostalgic it’s ridiculous. The first time in my life that I’m not looking forward to the holidays but I’m trying by watching videos like this.

@mommashawna707 : my mom died just over a year ago and there are moments when the grief just wells up. It is hard to lose someone you love. Try to cling to the happy memories. I sincerely hope you have close family and friends who you can also cling to! God bless you.

Hugs from Canada guys! I’m so sorry for your losses and I really hope the holidays end up special for you despite the loss. I remember the year we lost my sister, a month before Christmas, and I know it just can’t be the same as losing your mom but I understand at least a little.

Dump cake pro tip. Don’t pour melted butter over the cake mix. Cut cold butter into tree cake mix like you do with biscuits, I use my food processor. It melts into the cake mix so you don’t have dry spots.

Midway through baking the cake, when you can see where the powdery spots are forming you could slip a thin slice of butter over those (or cheat a little and spritz cooking oil on them like i did once) and let it finish baking

Couple of things that might help, especially with the dip, is to use heavy cream that you whip to medium peaks instead of coolwhip and kabocha squash in place of pumpkin (it's more pumpkin than pumpkin).

Love these videos and how you celebrate this time of year. Some of the recipes look great. Living in the UK I couldn't actually make any of these accurately. We just dont have the same ingredients. Pumpkin pie spice doesn't exist (i'll have to make my own). Also we don't have cool whip, vanilla pudding mix, graham crackers, pumpkin flavoured cookie, pumpkin flavoured whisky, caramel cream stuff, pumpkin/spice cake mix. Always intriguing me seeing the variety of ingredients you have in America. Keep up the good work :)

Instead of a cheesecake filling, you could put a pumpkin butter in the pumpkin doughnuts next time. That would solve the sweetness and pumpkin problems while avoiding cheesecake if you don't like it. I imagine the dough was expressly kept on the lower side of sweet as she filled it with pumpkin cheesecake batter in the original version.

You would probably get that pumpkin spice kick for the donuts if you did some sort of pumpkin spice filling. Doesn’t have to be your nemesis but still something. That was kinda the point.
