Haven't been back to home to Sunderland for 14 years. By that station is a bit vast. Worked for Sunderland libraries for almost 18 years. Attended Sunderland University. Brings back memories.

Glad my video found it's way to you! Yeah, that station is now dirtier, had a flood, without working toilets (they say they won't reopen) and still vast and empty. Also, I don't think we have a library anymore unfortunately. Hopefully, wherever you are now it's nice, there's only one real reason to come back to this place, and that's the coast. Cheers for commenting Gill, All the best

Sunderland isn’t that bad, it has loads going for it. Stunning coastline and I went to uni there, loved every minute of my time there. You should check out my hometown of Chorley, makes Sunderland look like St Tropez.

Haha really liked that end bit mate. I absolutely love Sunderland actually, the beaches are some of the best in the country and yeah, I would hate Sunderland to even resemble almost anywhere else. I'm really happy you have great memories of this city. All the best mate.

@PBNYLD many thanks for your kind comment, glad you enjoyed the video. In this video, I used the insta360 go 3 with a magnetic clip thing that was included with it, it actually did a pretty good job considering it doesn't allow external mics and is only the size of a tiny chipolata. I highly recommend it as a starter camera, the new one just came out too if you want 4k footage. Hope that helps 😃

That wasn't the job centre it was customer service for local council, the job centre was on John Street, which was originally the second half of Woolworths the other on Fawcett street.

If a tree falls in the winter gardens and there's nobody around to hear it, does it still have a library there? Makes you think doesn't it?
@adamrobinson6579

@JordyShowWalks never been sure how to answer that one. You would think it would have a sound but is making a sound only classed as making a sound if someone hears it. If that's the case it doesn't make a sound.

Awww Ian, I'm sad to hear that, the city itself is looking pretty good now...but there's still loads of issues and missing shops, all the people have changed now too, there's no more characters like there used to be. Where did you end up if you don't mind me asking? Cheers for the comment too mate.

Aye I know absolutely loads about Sunderland, but this wasn't really anything to do with the history of the place, and yeah, been to much worse places than Sunderland, some right shi-toles to be fair, that's why I'm trying to show it more positively on this video, and also please feel free to share any historical facts for me or people who check the comments, I'm sure there's loads of interesting and surprising bits of history here, I'd love to know more. Many thanks for the comment, hopefully in future videos, I'll be more prepared as this was just a little afternoon mooch.

The positives for the City I would say include Keel Square..new eating places such as the botanist and keel tavern which have both just opened. Vaux side. Riverside carpark, new foot Bridge being built to stadium of light, Riverside development , culture House in high Street West.. redevelopment of the old Civic Centre site and so on
@JordyShowWalks

@@neilscott910 exactly, literally the places that I've just done a video on the other day, I wanted to show that the place is moving into new life with all the rejuvenation going on. I can only do videos on certain times and I sometimes miss the busier times, so it might look like I'm giving the city a bad rap, but I'm trying to show people who aren't from Sunderland what's going on. Cheers again for the comment and the bits of insight, All the best
