Hey Hannah, I've got a couple of ideas that might help out with the resin coasters. Once you have everything in place and the resin in the mould, grab your strongest vibrator and vibrate the table, quite close to the mould. This should bring the majority of air bubbles to the surface. Then you can use a lighter or a match to pop the air bubbles just by waving it closely over the surface of the resin. You could repeat the vibration and the flame until the air bubbles are gone. I love all your content, by the way. Your videos are always interesting and super enjoyable.

I've never tried making things with resin before, it looks tricky. Now you have a "decorative" coaster, haha. I love the baubles. Instead of wire you could use purple or orange ribbon (matching to the flowers) to hang them with. I've never made resin coasters but I've made earrings etc. I found that if I put a really thin layer of resin and then leave it to set (at least partially) then the flowers become more suspended in the middle and it gives a really cool effect and might allow you to place the flowers directly onto the surface and pour the rest of the resin on top to avoid having to push them in! Also you could put some down the rim of the coaster too for a 'border' type effect. As for bubbles, a candle lighter (or even a match if you're brave) should get the bubbles out!!! Would love to see the ones you make with the wedding flowers

A few things to help with the bubbles: 1-Don't use the wooden sticks that come with the kit! Use plastic or silicone stirers, and stir slowly (I use the tiny spoons from the cadbury egg and spoon and the resin peels off completely if there's any left that dries, so I can reuse them!) 2-let the resin sit for a bit (max 5 minutes) before you pour it, and most of the bubbles will come to the surface and pop themselves 3-use a lighter or heat gun and gently run it over the surface (not in the same spot) to pop the bubbles, I've never found pins work very well. Also some resins (though not the one you're using because I have also used the same kit) require a respirator type mask, so make sure you check! Good luck with your future resin usage! The coaster still came out cute ❤

Just something to think about. Antique collectors of glass objects seek out the ones with air bubbles as that denotes that they are made by hand and not a machine, therefore are more valuable. I personally like air bubbles in objects as well, adds an element of interest and a different texture. You're doing great considering crafts isn't your passion, keep experimenting.

There are some good comments about resin craft, and I would do two layers of resin so that your flowers are suspended in the coaster. Lighter will work to remove a bunch of bubbles, but I also put my mixed resin in a warm water bath, it has some pros and cons. The biggest con is that you really really don't want to get water in your resin, so you have to be careful, but it makes the resin run thinner, so bubbles rise and pop themselves
@danni2602

Helpful tip if you plan on ever sealing flowers in resin again, invest in some mod podge or im pretty sure hairspray may work for more delicate flowers but coat the flowers before you put them in resin and that way they won’t brown in the resin at all over time x :)

Hey, I dabble with resin in coasters and trays. Dont be disheartened by your first attempt, nobody gets resin right straight away. For the bubbles You can use a lighter to pop the bubbles in the resin, once it's been in a mould for like 5 mins run a lighter over and it will pop the bubbles. Or even a hair dryer will work, just on a low setting as you dont want to blow the resin out of the mould. If you want to jazz them up a bit you can add anything from glitter to a little bit of ink some people even add old make up.

Highly late getting here but here goes.... - Coat your petals/flowers in resin before putting them in a bigger coaster/piece of art so you don't get bubbles from them. They can also be manipulated once they get tacky/rubbery?? so they can be placed more easily - Maybe consider getting thicker moulds so flowers are easier to place inside - Depending on your resin it cures in different amount of times. The longer the curing time, the more likely the bubbles are to come to the surface. - Warm the two parts of the resin separately before you mix them to become less viscous and allow the bubbles to release more easily, just warm water not hot do you don't overheat your resin - You don't need a heat gun!! A long handled lighter will work just as well to pop surface bubbles. Just run the flame, fairly quickly over the surface to not overheat any particular area too much and they should pop leaving a clear surface Sorry this is a lot, hope this helps... maybe?? Good luck!!

Hey Hannah, super cute video and this made me really want dried flowers for my wedding someday in the future! I just want to say, please if you use any resin again make sure to work in a well ventilated space and wear a respirator, I saw you wearing gloves and wearing a mask but a regular face mask doesn't stop the fumes getting to you. Id have loved to hear you talk more about the health and safety side of using these kinds of materials. Even resins that claim to be low/no toxic are still harmful chemicals. A lot of resin crafters I see forgo the necessary health and safety precautions but I work with a lot of materials both previously at uni and at work and please take care of yourself, you can develop allergies easily along with going to the extreme end of some materials causing cancer and fertility issues. Some suggestions if you want to have another go: Get some nitrile gloves that fit better to your hand size do they don't pull off your hands, gloves too big makes it soooooo difficult to do your work haha Get a respirator (you can get ones with replaceable filters or not), and I'd pour it out on your balcony (weather permitted) or by an open window/door. Pour your material from height in a thin stream, this will help reduce air bubbles as it flows from the cup into your mould, but yes a heat gun does help get rid of your air bubbles. I would love to see more crafting videos from you!

Tip for getting bubbles out of resin that I’ve seen on other KZitem channels - use a tiny blowtorch (like a soldering torch) and just very quickly go over the surface with it from a distance while it’s still wet.
