Love this. You may get some hate but as Americans, this should be a Parr of schooling. Not the combat class part but the basics of firearm safety and use. There are so many misconceptions about firearms and I will be the first to admit, they're not for everyone but just like a fire extinguisher, everyone should understand how they work. Awesome vid!

As a shooter, I can confirm - pointing and pulling the trigger is the easiest thing in the world; aiming and staying on target throughout the trigger pull is way harder, especially with a pistol.
@arty560

It's a little challenging at first, you have to adjust yourself to the gun, but, eventually, everything just *clicks*, and I've seen it happen countless times with those that I've taught. The firearm just becomes an extension of you, you start to bend it to your will, and you no longer have to adjust yourself to the gun. At that point, you can pick up just about any firearm and be proficient with it. This is where people tend to start focusing on learning more nuanced things like tactical movements, etc. TLDR; it's weird and clunky at first but eventually it becomes second nature.

Kize, firearms instructor here. A bit of feedback: The fact that you already exercise and are in shape enough to spend all day running the drills is excellent. That is literally the best quality to have for learning guns. The biggest challenge for nonsworn CCWs is getting them on a competent workout program. The more in shape you are, the better you will run a gun. You have already completed the most important step, which is great. Another thing you did right was not rushing it. That's a common newbie mistake. Remember: Fast is slow. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. The legendary gunfighter Wyatt Earp even said he was never the fastest, he was the most deliberate. You're doing a great job soaking up what you learn, the thing to work on is redundancy like the instructor said. The only people who suck with guns are the ones who do not have the patience to learn the proper technique. Repetitive practice such as dry fire is the key to learning the fundamentals of shooting.

@@veiledallegory AIWB is one of the best ways to carry, the people who think otherwise are boomerfudds. It's one of the fastest, most unimpeded draws which works with the natural movement of most peoples' bodies. @@veiledallegory Everybody who carries a gun has carried it for the first time once and most of them are still alive. As long as you follow the rules you can carry it in your ass crack perfectly safely. It's the instructor's job to teach people how to do so and it's really not that hard to do. Safety on if you have it and finger off the trigger, look where you're waving your gun so it doesn't catch your shirt or belt and you're all set

"Nonsworn CCWs"? Like Sheriffs? And Sheriff's Deputies? What do you mean by nonsworn? Does that include standard police officers who shoot blindly into a residence just because other police on scene are shooting at something? Are they "sworn"? Because, if so, being "sworn" does not seem to help in responsible firearm use.

25 years ago, at a dinner, family had a foreign exchange student from Japan. She had never seen a firearm. She didn't get to shoot, but she did get to have every firearm in the place, placed on her person....she had 6-7 handguns, 4-5 long rifles, couple shot guns, all on her person, was so funny. Pictures where taken, She was all smiles and laughter, as where everyone else.

I took a private class with Bernardo with during a Krav Maga class I used to attend . Very professional and safety conscious. He taught us to run with our arm bent in a 90-degree angle with finger off the trigger and the pistol pointing straight up. And not to lower the pistol until presenting yourself at the target. We were running in pairs. I'm surprised not to see this in this video.

Some really outdated concepts here, and I definitely don't like going about teaching new shooters this way. That aside, I'm happy to see someone getting into shooting. For those who want to jump to the defense of this guy, please understand that shooting just like any sport evolves over time. There are people who are ok shooters, but they are really knowledgeable with tactics, and tactics is a whole different beast that I've recently started trying to dig into. Someone can be tactically squared away, and still be a mid tier shooter, just like someone can be a phenomenal shooter and have no tactical knowledge. For those interested, some of the best minds in the game right now are Ben Stoeger, Hwansik Kim, Joel Park, Scott Jedlinski, Matt Pranka, Mike Pannone, Billy Barton, Nick Young and I could probably think of some other people that I'd suggest intermediate-advanced shooters listen to (even beginners honestly, but it might be tough to digest some concepts). As for those starting their journey, there's plenty of good guides out there from people like Lucas over at T.REX, and many others. I'd just ask that people remember that just because someone has a tactical background, that doesn't mean they're as good as someone like Ben Stoeger, JJ Racaza, or Nils Johansson. That being said, you do get people like Matt Pranka and Mike Pannone who are both top tier shooters, while also having an extensive background kicking ass.
