Real challenges are the one that you're not really sure you can complete. Where failure is not only a real possibility but possibly even probable. Many of us shy away from these. Thanks, Manon, you have solidified your top place in world of GCN presenters. Well done and keep you head up.

I know Manon is broken and it hurts to see but all cyclist must take an important message from this video - Your body and mind does have boundaries, sometimes you can push them and sometimes you need to respect those boundaries and not kill yourself for any kind of goal, you and your health is the most important thing and it's not embarrassing to give up sometimes. In last few years on the internet we've seen many motivational videos about not giving up and not failing but actually it's quite normal it happens sometimes in life, you move on and try again some other time. It's ok to give up.

Mega effort, Manon. You may not like quitting but in situations where your body, health and psyche are on the line, it takes courage to call it a day. Reminds me of the time Simone Biles pulled out of her remaining events in the Olympics because she knew she wasn't in top form and that if she simply "powered through" like the purists argued, she was risking serious injury. There's a line between healthy determination and plain obstinacy (ie. finishing just so you can say you did even if it destroyed you to do so) and you wisely exercised courageous restraint here.

Well done Manon! To be brave enough to still show a video where things did not go to plan deserves a huge amount of respect. As a coach of a different sport, swimming, it is all too often underestimated the effect that it can have on less able athletes to witness that those with an abundance of talent can still struggle.
