I'm back after a few weeks hiatus to move to my new home. And my first order of business was a hair cut. It had been since my last video since I cut my hair, and it was desperately in need of it. A few weeks back, I stumbled across a video by Brad Mondo ( / @bradmondo ) where he shows you how to cut your own hair with a shaggy layered look. At first, I didn't give it much thought. I didn't think the look was for me or that it would work well with my curly hair. But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to try it. So try it I did.
My video isn't the greatest tutorial. I definitely suggest that you check out the original by Brad ( • Hairdressers Guide To ... ). He shows the angles much better and explains things better than I do. My main goal was to see if this shag hair cut with a lot of layers really is as easy as he makes it look and if it works on my curly hair.
It took me about 30 minutes to finish and overall, I'd say it wasn't too hard as long as you take your time and start small. And in the end, I really liked the way it worked for my hair. I have 2c/3a curls, and this DIY haircut made them look amazing. It gave me so much more volume and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
