I've only been learning Spanish for 6 months. I spend most of my time (about 1 hour per day) doing listening and reading together. It's slowly starting to get easier as words and their meaning start to solidify. I have an advantage in that I've already learnt a language to B2 / C1 fluency as an adult, which took me 4 years to achieve that level. As a result, I know I just need to keep putting in work everyday with Spanish, try to enjoy the process, and the results will eventually bear fruit. I'm not in a rush.

b2 c1 in 4 years is impressive, did you study alone or did you follow a course? or did you live there?

@@orangotango9231 The language is Māori, the native language of New Zealand. I live in NZ, and the language is spoken by about 20% of the population, with about 3% of the population able to speak it fluently at an advanced level. I did a 4 year immersion course via an education provider. That being said, I always aimed to put about an hour a day of immersion on my own. I focused mainly on input (listening and reading), and would use the classes as an opportunity to practice speaking and engaging with others. I'm currently at the stage in my Spanish journey where I need to look online to practice with Spanish speakers, as there are not too many Spanish speakers living in NZ.

The intermediate plateau for Japanese destroyed me spiritually. I was in Japan busting my ass and telling myself like you that if I’m learning new words I must be getting better. Which is true. But I really needed more conversational practice.

Espero que tu español haya mejorado! Me alegra oir todo lo que aprendiste en un año. :) I write this in Spanish because my English level is not good actually, and I have difficult respect the "writing", sorry. 0

I had several long conversations when I first started learning Spanish. At the time I was dating a girl who could only speak Spanish, so I was speaking/listening for hours every day. With a vocab of less than 500 words, I was fairly conversational. Since then, I haven’t conversated almost at all. My vocab has more than doubled and I’m much much less conversational.

Bro we are literally the exact same people bro XD. I started learning espanol with duolingo back in september 2023, than after 3 months, I stopped my 90 day streak. Than another guy who was studying a different that being Japanese, and he was Estonian. He used anki and duolingo and focused on vocabulary. WE ARE LITERALLY THE SAME PEOPLE.

It’s literally got over 6,000 vocabulary words that it teaches you throughout the course. The context and speed of the learning is what is debatable.

I am currently at Unit 8 out of 10, and so far 5452 words learnt (day 823). And in Duo that means I repeated them many many times. I wouldn't name it limited at all.

He has a strong British accent, but his pronunciation is clear. So you have to improve your listening skills with the British accent instead of him speaking more clearly.
