Lovely build! I think that you should contact Noctua and investigate more about the results of the NH-D15. Would be very useful to know if the results are as expected by Noctua in comparison with the NH-U12A or if for the Intel CPUs the contact frame is mandatory with the NH-D15.

*my modded GTX1080...* I used NOCTUA fans but then got some bad coil whine. I then ran one of the fans (NOT the one sitting over the GPU processor) to a motherboard case fan header. I used the great software "FANCONTROL" to control that with the GPU (not CPU) temperature. It worked out AMAZINGLY! I almost never heard ANY noise from my PC while gaming even with the speakers off. FRONT SPEAKERS are Noctua and still have an NH-D14 with 15cm PWM fan (fans rarely spin above 600RPM with my custom fan profile). I've moved on to an Asus Dual RTX4070 (not a bigger one as I didn't want to buy a new case) and thought about modding it but it's surprisingly quiet in the SILENT fan profile. I also CAP to 60FPS (VSYNC) most games so don't push the GPU to its limit. When I get a 4K, VRR monitor I'll set a per-game FPS cap for frame consistency AND to limit fan noise (so if the AVERAGE FPS without cap was 90FPS I'd set an FPS cap of 80FPS because quiet to me matters more than getting every last frame).

With 12th and 13th gen intel builds I use a thermalrite contact frame on ALL OF THEM. Its kind of dumb not to. If you have one you should use it. It ALWAYS lowers temps.

This comment sums up the solution of heat issues of intel 12th and 13th gen, for the people who doesn't understand his comment Intel latest gen cpus are a bit shorter than the motherboards cpu bracket which causes bad contact between the cooler and the cpu -> less heat transfer.

I know I’m super late to the party but overall I thought you put together a really solid build. :) The only thing I would change would be going for a quieter PSU with at least 1200W for that extra peace of mind for future upgrades. Here are a few quieter options with their average noise dBa ratings from Hardware Busters being lower than the 30 dBa Guru3D rating at low fan speeds for the PSU you used. Asus ROG Thor 1600W 13.95 dBa Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1200W Modular Power Supply 16.48 dBa Cougar Polar 1200W 19.66 dBa Seasonic Prime TX-1600W 24.1 dBa Corsair AX1600i 25.6 dBa be quiet! Dark Power Pro 1500W 27.7dB Corsair HX1500i 28.82 dBa XPG Cybercore II 1300 Platinum 29.69 dBa

This is my dream pc!! Looks very similar to mine, i threw away my gpu fans and shroud and stuck some noctua case fans. I have the nhd 14 cooler and also lots of other case fans. For anyone curious, more fans don't mean better airflow. I usually see a 2 degrees drop in temp when adding another fan, and then 1 degree drop when adding another..maybe. so all one needs is 2 fans in the front, one in the back, the top one doesn't seem to do anything temp wise. All the fans are the 120pwm model. Wish i could add one to the psu though

Just a quick note on noise levels from someone that deals with some clients that care more about that than the average consumer. The difference in noise level for that Noctua GPU would be pretty important for anybody that had paid extra for their other components to be low noise, too. I’ll limit the comparisons to low and medium fan speeds since you mentioned that the GPU wasn’t needing to use high fan speeds. For example, in Cybenetics/Hardware Busters testing, ASUS Thor 1600W PSU had an average noise level of 13.95 dBa. That’s 3.3-3.4 dBa quieter than standard TUF at low fan speeds - but the Noctua is 1.4-1.5 dB quieter than that very quiet PSU. I wasn’t able to find find Cybenetics/Hardware Busters numbers for the PQ1000M that you tested but Guru3D tested it as ranging from 30dBa at 10% fan speed and 42dBa at 100% fan speed. If accurate, that means the Thor PSU was a minimum of 16dBa quieter, even by the most conservative interpretation of the margins. That makes a huge difference in terms of whether the GPU could potentially be the loudest component or not. The Noctua D15 at its highest speed reached up to 34.4 dBa but the D15s at the same speed was quieter at 31.7 dBa. The TUF GPU at medium fan speeds was quite noticeably louder than both (5.6 dB and 8.3 dB) but the Noctua GPU at medium fan speeds (16.8 dB quieter than the TUF GPU) manages to be 11.2 dB quieter than the D15 and 8.5 dB quieter than the D15s. Noctua case fans at full speed were measured at 31.9 dBa for the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM and 28.6 dBa for the Noctua NF-F12. As shown in the previous paragraph, the Noctua GPU remains quieter than that at medium fan speeds. In a system using those components, the TUF GPU would be the loudest component at both low and medium fan speeds by a potentially quite large margin - but the Noctua GPU could frequently avoid sticking out. For that reason, I would say the Noctua GPU has the potential to offer great value to anyone that spends a lot on getting the other components low noise in their system as well. EDIT: I forgot to include the U12A since you used that, too. It’s only very slightly louder than the D15 (0.3 dB louder: 34.7 dBa) so everything I said for the D15 applies with only a 0.3 dB offset for the U12A as well.

I love Noctua PC builds but... 1.) BeQuiet Case is totally out of place, the black Fractal North fits a Noctua/ProArt build much better 2.) The D15 is a good cooler for high-end CPUs of the past generation, but not for the current Intel/AMD generations. Hardware Canucks pointed this out a few months ago and Noctua is also familiar with the problem. This problem won't resolve until the new D15 comes out, until then the U12A is the better option. 3.) Would love to see a completly Non RGB Noctua Chromax Black build that swaps out the GPU's brown fans for the Chromax Black and the NA-HC8 Heat Sick cover on the U12A, maybe an AMD build with the Noctua Offset Mount for better temps
