These cars are the best. Cheap reliable luxury and decently quick. These 5 cylinder engines sound so nice too. If you ever get bored of the quiet exhaust a cheap tip is to remove the exhaust but keep the resonator. That will make this car sound great and not too obnoxious. Did this on My 06 R and it sounded so clean. It even popped and banged a bit. Enjoy the car m8

Thank you so much! I've been so pleasantly surprised by this car. I was absolutely considering cutting off the muffler, but I wanted to pass smog first. Now that I've passed, I'll absolutely be doing that here soon.

@@CarsandChris what state are you from? I’m from cali and here you can pass smog with the muffler cut off as long as you have the catalictic converter still on

I will tell you brother you are about to enter a lovely journey of Volvo modding there's a surprising amount of support. the best thing you can do though would be to put in a polyurethane engine mounts and subframe bushings wherever possible and take out any slack in the drive train.

Actually it doesn't matter if you bought this car for $100......By the time you fix it up you could be into it for $10,000 these cars cost so much to maintain.......😢😮😢

Not really. I'm not paying a dealership to do the work. Parts are pretty cheap and available. Been great so far

That is so very true. Even more so if you live in Canada where you can't find many auto wreckers with Volvo's in them, or parts stores that don't gouge you for new parts, so you have to import from the USA which almost doubles the cost after you factor in currency exchange, shipping costs, brokerage fees, and taxes.

Nice! Stumbled upon your vlogs, after I just bought myself an almost exact same car: a 2002 2.3 T5 manual that needs some TLC as well.

@ralph6115 congrats on the purchase! If you need any advice on anything, please reach out! My IG handle is @carsandchris and you can just send me a message. Most of the stuff I've done on the car I was able to figure out via KZitem videos. People like 1A auto, TRQ, etc, have tons of videos on repairs. I've bought parts from either RockAuto, FCP Euro, or IPDUSA.
