The entire concept of consolidation of debt is to lower the interest rate significantly and have a larger portion of the payment actually attacking the principal AND increasing cash flow. If you are going to end up consolidating all of your credit cards, then just go run them back up than why wouldn’t you also do the same thing by paying down one of the cards? It’s the same behavior in both situations and nothing has really changed to make you have changed that behavior.
@ProfShikari

Why does this resonate with me so much? Literally pulled all the “debts” from the kids rooms, mine and my wife’s bedroom and towels from the bathroom… they are now piled up in front of the washing machine… and now I’m overwhelmed, there is also clean, dry “debt” on top of the tumble dryer and the thought of folding it and putting it away is also a daunting task 🤣🤣🤣

The only thing scarier is when the cashier who is their 30’s has to ask what the names of the veggies 🥕 you are buying are. I once had them ask about a Napa Cabbage. They looked at me like I was an idiot. “Cabbage is round. I think this is a lettuce “ Me : “It’s a Napa Cabbage. It’s for Asian food. “ Cashier “Fine… “ They switched on the light and called for a price check 😂 I have had to show cashiers how to tell the difference between a cucumber and a zucchini 😂… I had to explain once that Opal apples ( Yellow apples) were not Bosc pears 🍐. I once bought cranberries and the cashier said “I didn’t know they were real berries. I thought they were just juice.” 😂 I was so flabbergasted I didn’t even know what to say … Like where did they think the juice come from? I am always nice but it makes me sad that grown adults have never eaten what I don’t even consider to be “exotic” foods.

Caleb, just a suggestion since I can tell you really value audience feedback. Maybe start emphasizing to guests that eating at home doesn’t have to be miserable even on a tight budget. I’ve been trying to do a barebones budget this week ($100 or less for everything) and so far I’ve made my husband and me: white chicken chili, stuffed peppers, spaghetti with hot sausage and homemade sauce (don’t buy the jarred crap), and pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and horseradish. I’m making individual chicken pot pies tonight and I’ve still got jambalaya and sausage pilaf on the menu for the rest of the week. All of these have made enough for us both to take to work the next day, which cut the lunch part of our grocery budget down by about 70%. The point is, cooking at home can be just as good, if not better, than eating out. Learning HOW to cook it critical if you are trying to cut back on going out to eat, because you’ll never be successful if you’re miserable every time you’re eating.

My son worked for Securitas, and they need ALL kinds of security, which often doesn't have anything to do with body type. He worked overnights in a booth at a pet food company, and his job was to make sure delivery trucks signed in and signed out after their delivery. That was it. Having a "security guard" on duty at the facility 24/7 was cheaper for them than paying the extra insurance for not having security guards.
@emmahorton3466
5 ай бұрын
I did that for allied at a big box store warehouse facility, same job, but it wasn't as easy as sitting in a booth. I checked in and out over 500 trucks a week, and that was just me, there were 8 other guards every day for the shifts. I walked 4 miles a day also. My husband worked the same job and eventually transferred to a pet food company, he literally sat in the box and only wrote down certain numbers (truck & trailer) and never walked into the yard or did anything. It really varies. Generally, these "low level" security jobs will hire anyone with no criminal record and can pass a mouth swab.

There was a Canadian show called "Debt Do Us Part" in the 2000s where the host did something like this. She also would point out if they continued spending they way they did, they would be in debt by $XX,XXX in 5 years. The latter part really drove people to realize how bad their spending was. I said, I'm here to apply for the security job. They looked me up and down, scoffed, and tossed me a cup to pee in. I was so embarrassed that I turned around and left. Soooooo the 2 biggest indicators for me getting assessed and diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 24 were impulse spending, people pleasing (putting everyone else first) and chronic job hopping.. and I also own a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 😅 NOT DIAGNOSING, just putting it out there. Might be something to keep in mind with future guests 🤷🏼♀️ Im not sure if this is a support you can provide, but I have seen a few guests in the past that really remind me of my behaviors pre diagnosis. If your team can connect them with a professional for an assessment, you might be removing half your battles if they are struggling with it! Getting diagnosed and treated changed my life AND my finances, I have crawled my way out of tens of thousands of dollars of debt simply because I had an understanding of why my spending was the way it was. This was before I found your show, now with the treatment and financial education I have joined an entirely different league.

@ykook7000 not saying that everyone meets the criteria for a diagnosis of ADHD, I see everyone can struggle with pieces here and there. But alot of the people that I have seen on this show do struggle with behaviors that I myself struggled with that had a huge impact on work, family and finances. The point I had intended to make was that if they are to offer an evaluation and it's negative then it's clear it's behavior that can be addressed likely without intervention. If they are assessed and diagnosed that change without treatment (pharmaceutical/therapy etc) may be difficult or unlikely as they have already placed themselves in a position financially that they are reaching out for help 🤷🏼♀️ was just a thought is all

I've been an EMT for 4 years, and planning to go to Paramedic school next year. He said he can't stay still and likes trying different things, and that's honestly everyone in EMS and Fire. If he actually tried to pass the National Registry, then he'd most likely enjoy being in EMS. And with him living in Texas, I've heard there are many learning opportunities by working in EMS in Texas. I live in OKC, and I made $100,000 as an EMT. I worked a lot of OT, but I was able to support my girlfriend and I for 3 years while she is in residency. I truly think he should pursue EMS. I think it'll actually give him purpose in life.
