What a great idea. I so admire those who think outside the box. And your comments about you have something so might as well use it. I fall into the "this is too precious to use" category. That's a BAD place to be, because I save stuff until it no longer works. Then I feel like such an idiot! So such good advice from such a young mind. Thanks, Natasha, for all that y ou bring to this community of great folks.

Buy a product called “ press n seal” , it’s similar to Cling wrap ( Saran Wrap) cling film. Whatever you call it. But the difference is Press N Seal really sticks to itself , it’s like it has some sticky on it. If you have both products and compare side by side, you will,see the difference between the Cling Wrap,products and the Press N Seal. I know Press N Seal is available in the US. You may be able to buy it on Amazon, or there may be a similar product where you live. So cut a small,piece of Press N Seal and open your jar of product. It can be texture paste, paint, crackle medium, or just anything that’s in a lot of Jar and that will,dry out. Wrap the Press N Seal over the open top, trying to make uses it’s as sealed as possible. Then put the lid back on, just screw it back on over the Press N Seal, you should be able to do that with no problems. This is what Tim Holtz recommends for keeping product fresh for a very long time. And I personally use this on my expensive acrylic mediums which are very prone to drying out and becoming useless …. It works just great! In a pinch, if you simply can’t find Press N Seal or anything like it, you can use the Cling wrap product. That will also work. Just be sure to always replace your Press N Seal or Cling wrap after you use the product . And after using any product that’s water based, or that you can clean up with water, just spray a small spritz into the jar, you don’t have to mix it . This helps keep,it moist without becoming too wet. I have many products that I use the Press N Seal as I’ve described, and they have lasted years! And are just as soft and usable as when I bought them.

Fantastic technique! I have oodles of texture paste as well. I am going to have a play this afternoon. Thank you for sharing. I was taught in the early 90's to buy a reinker with every pad to protect your investment. Today I am still using those pads purchased way back then and now there are even more techniques to use the reinkers directly. Also if you decide to sell off any ink pads you will do better if you have the reinker to offer as well. Reinkers are a very wise purchase.
@NatashaFooteCreative
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree, although it can feel like a steep investment, It really is worth it to purchase the reinker, even if it's not at the same time, you can purchase them separately when funds allow!
@nicolalederer9517
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Natasha, you raise the question of whether or not to get reinkers - and I am absolutely with you: GET THEM! I find them really versatile, often I even buy just the reinkers and use them for smoching, water colouring and many more techniques. With the Oxides in particular as they are not that good for stamping, I find these much more economical. Thank you as always for the inspiration, best regards from Germany, Nicola

Natasha!! How in the world do you keep thinking up beautiful new ideas?? Those ROSES!!! And the piece you made by "going fast" with the piped gesso because you saw the scrap paper behind your previous piece an had a thought.... Good grief. If you were to see what I'd come up with by just playing around and experimenting, you'd cringe. (With a smile on your face, of course, because that's just how you are.) Even trying some of your ideas, mine end up looking much different from yours. Do you sell your cards in local boutique-type gift shops? Oh, people would buy up the entire inventory as soon as they laid eyes on them!! 😍

Yours are all great and will make fabulous cards. I can't wait to see how mine turn out, I have some old 3D pearl effect stuff that doesn't seem to want to come out of the tubes so I might as well cut them open to try, too. For mixing balls, get a packet of stainless steel "cleaning balls" (I'm in germany and apparently those are totally a thing now for cleaning bottles and suchlike, you dump them into a "dirty" bottle with water and dishwashing liquid and swirl them around and apparently they remove whatever you've let dry in the bottle). Or, if those aren't available, there are steel bb pellets on amazon, those are bigger than the cleaning balls, but work the same, and they're usually cheaper, because they're not marketed at housewives ;-)

Thank you very much for all your amazing ideas - so many and so good!! If I may offer a small tip? You mentioned that the oxide sprays have a small mixing ball in the bottle to help stir up the pigment before use. I had a similar problem with acrylic inks until I realised that I could put a bead in the bottle myself - any small bead from old or broken jewellery. In fact, in some bottles I've put two or three small beads because the pigment is a bit 'heavy'. Works a treat!
