We hike to the highest suspension bridge in Europe and the second highest in the world!
In this video we traipse through a rainstorm in North Portugal in search of the amazing piece of engineering, the Ponte 516 Arouca 🤩
We start the little hike at a very rainy Areinho. The walkway is called The Paiva Walkway (I'll leave a link to their website below). It's fascinating! Basically it is a linear 8km hike through the Portuguese mountains and the whole walk is a boardwalk. A wooden walkway for 8km! Amazing!
Unfortunately on this day the rain got the better of us and disturbed out initial plan. Obviously we planned to hike the whole thing but given the pour down of rain we decided to park at the car park nearest to Ponte 516 Arouca and walk from there....which we did and I would HIGHLY suggest! 👌🏽
If you like the idea of walking through the mountains but you don't like uneven terrain, this is the hike for you. Get yourselves to the Paiva Walkway. But bear in mind, there are many steps to attack 😬
From the car park we parked at it was only a 5km walk there and back but that was enough to get a good soaking and a walk on a suspension bridge that I will never forget. Scared? Hell yes. Wet my pants? You need to watch the video to find out 👀📽️
If you want to join us from the beginning of this road trip around North Portugal I'll leave the link to the playlist below for your viewing pleasure.
Until next time, take care and have fun folks. Peace ✌🏽💚🧡
