In the movie, three Little words, Helen, Kane actually sang the song that she introduced, not Debbie Reynolds.

Debbie Reynolds is so cute in this movie. A preview of what a talent she was to become.

Many moviegoers were charmed by Debbie Reynolds' apparent vocal impersonation of famed Broadway star Helen Kane, perhaps for the first time. Also, many of us also demanded MGM to feature Carleton Carpenter in other movies, which MGM obliged.

As I understand it, this is actually Helen Kane's singing voice.

@@ronaldcammarata3422 Indeed. An apparent impersonation by Ms. Reynolds. She would have lip-synched to Ms. Kane's voice. However, it might have been a contemporary recording by Ms. Kane (1904-1966). Her voice in the original recording seems different somehow.

@@ronaldcammarata3422 Nope. Debbie Reynolds was a talented impersonator. I worked for her in the early 90s. She told me about this performance. She didn’t know how to sing as herself yet, but she knew how to sound like others.

Helen Kane also voiced Betty Boop

No, Mae Questel was the voice of Betty Boop in most of her cartoons. Betty was a parody of Helen Kane, though, and Kane sued, claiming she came up with "Boop-boop-a-doop" but lost. Questel also went on to do the voice of Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons....and Olive's voice was a parody of actress Zasu Pitts.
