Incorrect. The surgeon runs in, hastily takes the dressing off, takes a pic, and leaves. THEN the nurse walks in and realizes the dressing is off.

This is how they ruin my day all the time and leave the wound exposed to all the bacteria in the world and then when it gets infected you hear that the nurses aren't following correct infection prevention procedures.

I personally know of a surgeon that will check a wound and get new supply to change the dressing and pack it himself. I love that man!! I will still have the mess to clean, but I’ll take that than repack the dressing.

I love when the doctor snaps his fingers at me to clean up the mess HE made and then runs out of the room as if he's simply too busy to fucking do it. Sir, you pulled me out of my own rapid response to have me do this???

True. You'll have those rare surgeons that'll do that. At a teaching hospital it's a little better. The resident will actually redress their work, asking the nurse the supply room's code number to get their supplies.

I don't know one person in my personal life that trust the medical community anymore. The vast majority of them it's because of situations just like this. Sadly, doctors have a massive God complex on their hands and it is causing Society to shun them instead of embracing their knowledge. Also, it seems that medical schools are not informing their students there is a big difference between education and indoctrination.

Mom’s a Derm. She has her own private office, but is on staff at a few hospitals so occasionally she’ll get consulted. As soon as the first iPhone came out, I learned very quickly to NOT LOOK IN HER PHOTO ALBUM. This even extended to getting the mail out the mailbox bc she’s frequently get medical journals sent to the house. Sometimes they’ll put an incredibly…**medical**…image ON THE COVER! Sometimes more!! I’ve now been working with her for almost 5 years & have seen pretty much everything by now. I wasn’t turned off of being in the medical field, but it definitely solidified that being a dermatologist (or any oral doctor) is not for me Susan.
