Christina- Your videos are so good. Such high quality content. Honest, relatable and easy to digest with great takeaways. I go back and rewatch when I need grounding. It’s like therapy on call. I also greatly appreciate your vulnerability in sharing your experience. So many people need your channel. This problem of consumption and shopping mixed with fantasy life/self is only getting worse. I can’t imagine how much your channel will continue to grow. No other channel has struck a chord with me like yours. As a fellow Torontonian, I am proud of you (maybe that’s weird, but...) and just wanted to say you are seriously gifted at this content creation thing :)

My worst fear was having my then existing student loans grow in interest, to a point I wouldn't be able to pay it back. I watched KZitem videos about other people who struggled, and I was determined to not let that happen to me. That resulted in my husband and I put off moving out and getting married for 5 years. I paid all $52k back from my under grad and graduate school. It was so hard at the time, but not having those payments on top of our living expenses has made things so much easier

For many many years I did not have a good salary at all and lots of debt. I would be afraid to check my balance but at the same time would binge spend to feel better. It's so much like a weight-loss/body positivity journey. Avoiding the problem makes the problem worse. We need to be real with our situation and decide to change.

I feared facing the numbers and how they might not be adding up... I decided to change this for New Year's. It took me THREE DAYS to do a spending analysis. I was fuming the entire time. But the most critical part was that I found a way to talk kindly and compassionately to my spouse about the spending problem. That was what made all the difference, because he got on board. And the hardest part really was getting started. We got out of debt in exactly two years.

Well done on your upcoming debt freedom 🎉. I’ve got four months to go on my own debt free journey and I can feel the happiness. In the UK we don’t have major student debts, it actually gets cut off after a certain amount of years. Our issues here are credit cards and Pay day loans… that’s what got me into £10,000 of debt and putting my head in the sand/mental health determination. The last few years I have worked hard to pay it off and completely changed my out look on money. Then coming on KZitem and seeing so many go to through this drain of life, through a lot of our own silliness. We’ve got this everyone on their journey 😊 Let’s then make wiser choices with our own hard earned cash and live the happy lives we deserve. Essay over 😅😂👍🏾

Good for you,Christina! I have been following you for over a year at least. I’m amazed at how much you have grown in confidence during your debt repayment journey. My biggest difficulty with my own finances is wanting to throw more than I can really afford each month at my debt. Being too cash poor isn’t the answer either. So finding the right balance is a challenge that I’m still experiencing.

I think the reason why I love your channel is because it portrays a more realistic and relatable approach to personal finance and minimalism. I'm grateful that my parents were able to teach me the basics of creating a budget; not a lot of parents or adults in general know enough about finance these days. The amount of confidence you carry in yourself now really shows in this video, and so I'm glad you've accomplished your debt free goals, Christina. Keep on being a source of positive energy for those who are wanting to make similar changes to their lives 😊❤

Gail! 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve never been in debt but I’m really interested in personal finance and have watched on KZitem probably every season and episode of her show, love it! I actually have always feared debt and I think that’s what has kept me off of it. It’s so nice that nowadays youtubers like you talk about those topics, so that people can be inspired as our parents generation apparently didn’t do much of a good job in that section

Several years ago, my husband took care of our finances. He took out a loan for our daughter ‘s college that was larger than I thought it was. So later, I took over the bills I paid $400 month on this loan, and it still didn’t go away. Then, as an off shoot of minimalism, I took a deep look into our expenses. Through frugal living, We paid off everything thing in about a year. Even the house. This is the work part: I would sell stuff and then every $100 I collected I’d put towards debt. $10 here and there were so significant! It’s interesting how the mind shifts the significance of money. Yes, debt free is awesome. It’s even good for your marriage. Our “why” was mostly a vision of simple living. Christina, what you have done is amazing!

Now that you’re almost debt free (congrats!!!! So happy for you!) would you consider doing a video breaking down the whole experience with numbers? Like how much you made and how you paid it off and budgeted? I get if you’re not comfortable with that, I feel like I’m in a similar situation, I have an amazing income, but over 100k of debt and it seems completely impossible despite my high income!
