Nanelle, my heart goes out to you. Hearing the details of your story bring to mind memories of my father's death in 2018. He was in a nursing home, 94 years old, living completely dependent on care, in the later stages of Alzheimer's. I remember arriving at the care home some time after midnight, having received the call, and being let in by the night-shift staff. The paramedics had been called, and were still there, having confirmed my fathers' death. And the police had been called and were on their way. But the remarkable thing was the look of fear on the faces of the HCAs and the nurse. At the time I didn't really understand why they looked so scared. But you have just opened my eyes. Most of the staff at this nursing home were African, but here we were, a white family, with white paramedics and white police officers attending. Thank you for telling your story. Thank you for coming to the UK and taking on what I know to be the most demanding of jobs. Thank you for your expertise, you care and your compassion.

I had that experience when I was a deputy security team lead at a hospital here in UK. This doctor spoke very rudely to one of my ethnic minority officers. My officer reported to me, I told him to take me to that doctor. When I got there I asked him if what he said to my officer was true she looked at me and answered my question with her own question to me. Omg I just lashed her with my tounge, reminding her of her duty of care and requested for her name. At this point she saw the anger in me and started panicking begging me not to report her that she was stressed from home and was sorry for how she treated my officer. I got her to apologise to my officer and then told her if such repeats again I will escalate it to the highest order outside the NHS

Thats the day i learned the importance of having a witness when things are escalating as well as documentation and joining RcN or any union. Nobody likes you or has your best interests at work, not even the manager. dont get too comfortable ever. There was a clip earlier of a Nigerian activist in Ireland demanding 'land', 'properties' and 'businesses'. He was utterly unfamiliar with the concept of hard work and meritocracy, he just insisted that everything should be handed to him and his cronies. Ireland is all but destroyed as Irish people have their very significant struggles and many do not have their own land, property or businesses. These things are earned, not given and it was ever thus!

I am a black Caribbean / Central American degreed nurse in U.S.A, who has worked for 30 + yrs for affluent whites/ Jews primarily. Stand up and don’t let that doctor get away. Persevere. He knows exactly what he did…old school bigot. The dignity, compassion, care, patience, and grace we give our patients is exceptional most of the times. Only fear GOD. I am so sorry you had this demeaning experience . It’s very stressful. That doctor has exhibited that negative toxic behavior before, and will again…. Educate yourself as highly as possible, and take every class you can so that you have the highest autonomy within your field. Education is POWER. God didn’t give you a spirit of fear…..what would all those care homes etc do without the black immigrants? I don’t do that type of work, but know it is very sacrificial. Well I'm from the UK. And like Africans😊😊😊 but have experienced a couple of black nurses that were very nasty and one African doctor that told me that at least I can collect full disability when I get a double amputation ( that I didn't know I needed) and then he laughed and asked me why I was crying after he just dropped that on me out of the blue!! Told me he thought I would be pleased because of the extra benefits that I can claim and spend on drugs!! He then told me that at least I would save money on shors . I have Rematoide Arthritis and went to arrange my bunion operation ( well that's what I thought anyway!! His bedsid manner was terrible!! All because I was a hard drug user for thirty years I was 41 at the time and my mum picked me up crying my eyes out !! Got straight on the phone with the surgery and he had to write me a letter saying sorry and admitting that he had broke life changing news to me in the wrong way .2 weeks later I got a second opinion and they told me that I may need an amputation but only if I choose to when my feet become to much to bear and that it's not 100% going to be needed .even when I was crying I had to reach across his side of the desk to get myself some tissues he never even offered me any and you could tell that he was taking pleasure from upsetting me .very strange as it's the first (and last) time I've had this doctor Please please be nice to your patient if you,re a Doctor or nurse. Because people often take your world as gods

Thanks for sharing, and I'm sorry you went through that. As Africans, we are used to leaving everything to God, but please pursue it legally for record keeping sake as silence at times can be harmful in the future. I work as a self-employed personal assistant, and my contracts are very strict. I don't allow anyone to intimidate me, no matter who you are. I take pictures and videos a lot for record keeping too, never assume all is well. If I were you, the moment I noticed the Dr giving me attitude, I would have let him know that I would be recording our conversations for record keeping as no camera in the home. Trust me, he would behave and will not have the guts to go lie against you to the police. Sending you hugs, remain strong dear.

So sorry to hear this. This is discussing treatment. So glad you shared this story. You’re clearly a women who loves your job and cares so much for the people in your care. I’m glad you are pursuing having this doctor answer for his crimes. Deliberate, manipulative, false accusations and deformation of character, I’m sure are a crime. Yet again I’m disappointed with the RCN. 1 month before they could give a counselling appointment! Is that what our subscription gets us in times of great need? This, along with several things I have seen wrong with the RCN, is why this year I will be leaving and joining UNISON. Would love to connect and offer support, prayers and encouragement. We are not strong on our own, but God gives us strength. Please any nurses, care assistants who would like to study the bible so that you can learn/continue to rely on Christ being our sheild, DM for more information .💙💜

So heartbreaking to hear your story Nanelle and I'm glad you shared it. Am just glad that it's been a while since it happened and you are now in recovery. You guys do a job which so many of us are not kind enough to do and I'm grateful that people like you work in care homes. I visit a care home frequently in London since a 96 year old family member is being cared for there. He is nearing end of life too and it's such a hard job for the nurses to look after him because sometimes he refuses to eat and sometimes he just doesn't want them to trouble him. And he always says that the nurses are awful. The only good thing is that he is not racist to the black nurses, although he's white. I really enjoy speaking to all the carers that I meet when I visit him because they are from all over the world. I also make sure that I'm kind to them because carers are just amazing. So please don't let bullies ruin your day, we appreciate you. Take care.

Thank you for sharing this very traumatic experience, Im so sorry u had to endure this. The hearts of man can be so evil, but we serve a true and living God who fights our battles, who contend with those who rise up against us. I pray God will bring a resolution to this matter in your favour and lead you on the right path. Working as a nurse in the Uk comes with many challenges, but I thank he didn't give us a spirit fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. God does not sleep, nor is slack concerning you. Griselda, your story is touching and full of lessons, and I love your forthrightness in acknowledging you could have avoided the situation if you had taken the course that qualifies you to verify the death of your service user. This is such a balanced storytelling and I hope everyone learns from it. However, I would like to add that you should not give up on going after the doctor; you got lucky, but your sister or brother somewhere might not be as lucky, so the doctor and others like him need to be stopped before they take people's livelihood away from them with frivolous charges. There are tons of human rights laws that can support your case, and I'm sure there are lawyers who will take your case pro bono. You might even make some coins in the process. Don't give up, please, if only for the sake of others and for posterity. Fight it through.

Hi Nanelle, I hope you’re doing fine, I watched your video yesterday and I couldn’t stop thinking about you as it really touched me. I want you to be strong and I’m certain the autopsy report will vindicate you. I would also like to say that when working in healthcare we need to be extra careful and vigilant cause we deal with reality. Usually when a paramedic is expected as you have called them, it’s always good practice to just instruct a carer to stay by the door/entrance or best area of the home that they can easily see that the doctor has arrived, in other for the carer to also direct them promptly. And most especially when you’re aware that you may not hear the bell ring from your unit. I also understand that you may be short staffed to let a carer go stand somewhere for minutes, that should be your organisation’s headache not you, Veronica is your priority at that moment. All that being said, that Doctor attacked you and hindered you from doing your job by shutting the door at you and asking you to leave, he also threatened to call the police if you do your job (which is communicating and getting the death certificate). That should be taken up. And he is also a suspect because you were not there to confirm what he actually did in the room as a fellow colleague rather he ask a family who does know much about the profession go in with him.

Every sector has bitchy people, but the reason many are loathe to work with black people or 'people of colour) (which is a term most people hate) is because it doesn't take long for the race card to come out! Sometimes, you just need to accept that either your work isn't up to par, or you're not liked or respected, but no, everything can be blamed on racism on this thread!@@Julie-wx2gf

I just discovered your channel yesterday, I am Hispanic, I am not a nurse but sometimes in the UK they can look so friendly but we have to be careful cause they don't like us entirely, just you pill a bit on them and you actually know who they really are like, I am not speaking in general of course, cause there are super friendly genuine people. I also struggle a lot at the beginning cause Hispanics and black people we are more transparent or let's say more spontaneous and this could annoy people from here, cause they are more robotic and also more polite, but we express more with the face with the voice and hands! Sometimes I don't say thanks cause we are used to do it with the hand or with a face expression but here if you dont say please and thanks you could be impolite, this is my experience in England I don't know what about Northern Ireland. Nice channel, you have very nice accent. ❤ Dont worry you just did it very well, people here are quiet sensitive.

@@NanelleGriseldaSister l have been watching you for a while, you are a very strong person. I am a black person from the Caribbean working in Ontario, Canada. This Dr. is very unprofessional. In my province, this MD would be reported to the College of Physicians and Surgeon, also to the Ontario medical association. The body could not be taken away without that certificate no matter what. If he called the police that is serious, so some administration on call has to come in and no information is given to the police until they come in. The union would have a field day with this doctor, not sure if you have a union. Did he follow the policies and procedures of the institution he work at. If not he would loose his privileges to work there. The union would have a grievance against the workplace. Because this is workplace harassment, intimidation and discrimination. He would have dug himself into some "hole" The practice standard are somewhat different in Canada than the UK. Physician, Nurses and other allied workers, be it white or foreign nationals are very much respected in Canada. Anyway can't wait for your videos to drop. We can discuss Canadian, UK nursing.😊

Yes, let's generalise whole groups of people based on one's conduct and then apply that to the rest of the globe😂 People like you don't even understand how racist you are when you make these types of comments. you believe people are different because of their skin colour, ethnicity, or how they conduct themselves and behave, which is rather ridiculous, and this is how you spend your life? Do you too judge and treat others in this manner? All based only on colour and ethnicity?
