I'm in the Army National Guard so I have to do this test a couple of times a year. It's miles better than the previous APFT in terms of calculating a soldiers fitness. It exposed soldiers so bad that they had to make the test easier multiple times so the majority can pass it. Instead of the plank, they had a leg tuck event and most women and heavy set guys couldn't do one leg tuck so they obviously replaced it. I must say Patty, that was an impressive ball throw you did. Probably better than the majority my unit could do. 👍🏻

As a person in the military right now, I really appreciate the amount of thought and effort that went into this video a lot of typical KZitemrs who want to just challenged themselves do the test but they don't prepare anything they don't know any of the requirements or anything like that and it seems like she actually looked up the manual for this the actual document. Indicating a boot with a part on the plank, other than I'd say her back was just a bit too round for me but honestly it's passable for most of the army, there was only like once or twice where preparation would have been better, understandably the hex bar deadlift bar wasn't the right poundage that was the smaller version but it's all about what you've got right? the kettlebells having a tape measure to measure your ball throw, which the balto is actually really good. All-in-all I definitely appreciate the detail that was in this especially in the beginning talkin about the camouflage I personally think you've been better off where the BDU camouflage it looks way fucking better everyone hates the camouflage that she wore in this video but pointing out that it is a discontinued camouflage so that she can wear it and not be appropriating anyting is really educated. I'm honestly just really impressed with stuff in this video that to me and other service members seems really simple if you want to take a fitness test from a military branch you can bet your ass there's a Barney style written in crayon manual on how to do these things that tells you every single step but most people don't even look it up or don't even try and follow the rules and they just do whatever.

Your high school friend from the track team was right! It's not just aerodynamics, but body inertia too, optimal running form in general has knees close and slightly bent, palms half-open, 90° elbows, shoulder movement with each respective leg stride (which should reach up to your knee if you look down while running), straight back, head high, chest out but ALSO inclined forward to have your own weight help you run. Then again, you can just run however you like, it's only a few miles. Very fun video, I have never seen a hex bar before! Our army exercises were all marching and drilling, we were supposed to have combat track once every two weeks, but I never saw it once in 7 months. My guess is, the instructors wouldn't be able to perform, so they never went through with it. P. S: what's your max plank time!?

In the Sprint Drag Carry, you don't need to touch the ground when returning to the starting line. You only touch the ground at the far end. Also you are supposed to start in the prone position. There are lots and lots of rules to the event and the keep changing. You are supposed to get a 10 minute break after the plank before you run. They also changed the standing power throw so you do Not have a practice throw.

I did six years active, gauged by the APFT. I could knock out push-ups and sit-ups all day, generally scoring around 90% without having to invest a lot in muscle maintenance. I was built for strength. I could not run to save my life. I ALWAYS passed with only a minute or so to spare. I could do long distance with no problem, but I just did not have the build for fast running. the minimum at 21 years old, when I joined, was somewhere around ~15:36 (2005). I would stress about the run all year long... The ACFT minimum seems to be 22:00. I could've knocked this out all day, and by doing it at 15:36, I wouldn't have to worry all the time. I wish they had this test back when I was in. It is definitely my kind of test. Great job on your execution!

What you did Is not called the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). It’s actually called the Army Combat Fitness Test ( ACFT). APFT is the old test with seats ups, push-ups and a two mile run.

The hardest part about military pt is the running in boots and the rucking. The rest of the stuff is mental. But running in boots is no joke. Your knees and heels and calves will be fkd up and it makes you tap out because when you trained yourself prior to entering the military you likely ran in comfy running shoes. The military removes all things comfy. If anyone is interested in joining the military, please get yourself used to running in flat shoes and also accustomed to less sleep. And also buy a ruck bag and start rucking.

US Army sure is different from the Finnish Defence Forces. The Finnish fitness test is stationary long jump, 1 minute max pushups, 1 minute max crunches and Cooper's test. There's another one which has pullups as many as you can without dropping from the bar, 1 minute max back extensions and 1 minute max squats in addition to the previous ones. You truly feel like death afterwards because the point system is quite brutal

I’m an Army National guard soldier and I will say the ACFT is far superior than the original APFT. Since I was a kid and my tenure in the guard, I struggled with running, but last year I finally passed my ACFT and now hopefully going to NCO school soon! Great job, Lean Beef Patty for this video !

Good job Patty 😊👍🏻 Old fart here 55. Had an old Battle Bud who was ex US Special Operations and became a trainer at Basic Under Water Dive training centre in Panama Beach Florida. I'm one of the few civilians who got to go through the week long program for new recruits. At 44 years of age I passed. Today at 55 NOPE!!! 🥴 Was a blast to know I still had it though 🥵

Currently serving in the Army Reserve, this new PT test is definitely much easier for people to pass and it’s mostly down to them increasing the run time minimum by several minutes. For my age group and gender the minimum passing time was 16:36, but the new ACFT standard is 22:00. Much easier to achieve for me since I’ve never been good at running. Thanks for uploading this video. Even though some of the exercises weren’t quite tight 😂 still very entertaining. Love your content Patty, keep up the great work.

This is pretty cool! So, some things... - You ARE allowed to use a belt, for the deadlifts. Part of the stips for the event, when the ACFT was in use, was the ability to use belts, to prevent "sports injuries". You don't want folks having injuries from "training". I recommend using a Cardillo Belt. ;-) - Ball -- I think you passed. You certainly looked like you did, anyway. 🙂 -HR Push-Ups -- You'd be surprised how many Soldiers "kill" themselves in the "resting position". -Sprint-Drag-Carry : One thing that I found that helps with this event is "front leaning" when sprinting, and then staying in "perpendicular plane" when doing the "drag/carry". Leaning backward or forward when drag/carry tends to work your core/ham/quads way more, which affects you more IMO in plank/2-miler. All and all? Excellent first attempt, Patty! Shoot, move and communicate... AND DRINK WATER! EDIT: Oh, and the PT Tests? They're done in PT gear... Everyone's got shorts, t-shirt, outer PT track Suits, and athletic shoes.

it seems there was just two scoring sections... either perfect (100) or passing (60) (or not passing if you dont get above that lol)... i think i just got passing for all of them (I shouldve checked what the requirements were tho and pushed harder..i mightve gotten a few perfects!
