We Daily drive two of those 2001 thur 2005 Civics, So that belt was probably Original still, I also ran two 03 civic hybrids past 300.000 miles with the original belts, That 1.3liter has a timing chain, The 1.7 liter you are working has a timing belt, Hope someone changed it or that will fly off next, Or the head gasket 😁

Diagnostic is the toughest part of the business sometimes. I usually swap out the belt tensioner, serpentine belt, and alternator and call it a day.

Except when he never even looked at the alternator apparently to see the belt was destroyed. That’s kind of past a mistake and more like wow he’s really phoning these diags in. Not visually inspecting something? That’s kind of rough.

I hardly ever change out the belt when doing alternators etc. To be honest many customers decline, thinking you are trying to upsell them!
