The ARFun was my first brushless quad, got it about 2 months ago. I've had a blast with it. Having said that, I had to get hi C rating batteries to avoid brown outs and the lens was not focused when I got it. Once those issues were resolved, it has been great. I'd like to point out that there is also an ARFun 95 Pro, which is practically the same except it fits the Gemfan 2 inch props.

Great channel Stew! You guys should look into the Tomoquads frames. My Predator X v1 came in at 75g spinning 3045x3 props on 1104 motors. 125g AUW on 3S 450mAh. I am building the new SE stretched version now with 1306 motors and 4S 650mAh. The frames Tomo has right now are exceptional. Super skinny arms and 4mm thick bottom plate.

What are the best batteries for the ARFUN95?
@IzakGt
7 жыл бұрын
I went with the Lizard primarily because I originally saw it here. Of course, I did my research and found the AR Fun before purchasing the Lizard and it seems the consensus is that the AR Fun is faster but the Lizard "may be" better for freestyle for whatever reason the reviewer thought. Plus the changeable vtx power kinda sold me. I personally like the Lizard, at first I was reserved because stock setup left me thinking hummm. After finding some great videos and cranking the camera angle up it really helped out. Taking it one step further I went and 3D printed some soft mounts and that helped a lot. But there is a problem the 3D printed soft mounts raised the front motors too high and now the prop strikes the frame. Big bummer I had to go re-print to almost .6mm and it's virtually nothing and I occasionally still get prop strikes. If I was buying again, I'd probably go with the AR Fun due to the frame and being able to mount a nice 1 mm thick soft mount.

I thought you might this little beast. I started with the 90 then just got the 95 frame so it's pretty much the pro now. My only beef was the stock battery just isn't enough. I'm actually still trying to experiment with which battery works best for me. I recommend a high C. I'm probably going to switch jst for xt30. Anywho thanks for the review Stew! Happy flying.
@qumefox

I agree with the FoV comment but it also depends on where you're flying. Indoors, I prefer the 150 degree and up since the distances you're dealing with are short to begin with. Outdoors, a 110-120 degree FoV is much easier to fly with since you can judge altitude and distances better.

Awesome, couldn't wait for a comparison between Arfun and the lizard. I've been running the 2035 gemfan props and It blows my mind on 2s! Then moved it all to an aurora 100 frame so I could use a tx03 and wouldn't go out of range in 3 seconds! :D

Hy Stew, I have all 3 of the current hot micros Awesome 95, ARFun 95pro, and the Lizard 95. So far the awesome 95 has held up with least problems, but it has no osd which really bugs me so I have to depend on timers and LV alarms beeping. I really liked the ARFun but I broke a skinny skinny arm within a day on a HARD crash into a tree. I moved the ARFun components to a stronger 110 frame with better camera mount and it flies great! The Lizard95 has given me receiver reception issues since day 1 and a camera button broke off after I flipped the image so I cant fly it at all until I replace (we will see how well banggood deals with warranty issues). Anyway to all you asking about batteries: these things can run a lot of extra weight and the added weight seems to help keep them in control too: you just need high C ratings like over 40or60 on 2s or 3s and they will fly beautifully. I have run 800mah graphene 3s on these which is a huge battery...down to wispy GNB450 80-120C 2s batteries which are small, super light, and also work very well. Just ordered some MaxAmps 420's 3s to try as well

watch out for brown out on the arfun that FC is sensitive to 2s power and on LV or hard punch with a lower C battery it will restart casing the flip of death. I added a cap to mine, but flying 3s solves it completely I moved my electronics to a Storm Moby frame (Swift micro on 2" frame) for better camera/vtx options and I was breaking the ARFUN frame right where the arms meet the motor mounts... it is just too narrow, even with 3mm thick I love the 2" and fly an air arsenals kani 97 2" too :D These really are beasts and you can fly them anywhere

One method of a measured speed test would be to tie a 100meter long piece of bailing twine to the quad with a balloon tied to the other end & do a vertical punch-out from rest on the ground & have a stop watch start at the same time, then stop watch the moment the balloon lifts off the ground- now you have a time & distance it should be easy to work out averaged speed at least... ;) Best of luck & thanks for your time & content! :)
