@@auldthymer My favourite version comes from Blake's 7, in the second episode of Season 3 where the two remaining heroes rush the guard outside their cell, only for him to flop onto the floor with a knife in his back. As a cartoonist myself, I'm impressed at how accurate they portray the trade. That old lady, by the way is Momma, from the strip of the same name, by Mell Lazarus. The murder weapon is a Rube Goldberg award - basically, a Tony for cartoonists.

I always enjoy your Murder, She Wrote videos even when the episode is not quite up to par. I'd have a tough time requesting just one episode, but I did see an episode the other day called "The Szechuan Dragon" that featured Grady, Donna, Seth, and Metzger trying to solve a murder on their own while Jessica is out of town and it made me think of your previous videos featuring those characters. The only downside is that Jessica is barely in it (and yet she still shows that she's the only competent sleuth on the planet).

Two episodes I have to recommend: Thursdays Child- A quite emotional and heart wrenching plot where a woman tracks down Jessica and claims her late husband Frank had an affair with her years ago and that her son is Frank’s love child, only for Frank’s possible son to get accused of murder. It has one of the few instances where Jessica actually begins crying and loses her happy persona, which really caught me off guard. Not campy at all but very emotional Night of the Tarantula- Complete ludicrousness. Jess stays on a Carribean island and someone is murdered, and the plot descends into voodooism, killer spiders and zombies. Yes, zombies. The way Jess gets the killer to confess is so ridiculous and awfully acted it’s honestly laughable, but a definite watch if you want an episode that goes deep in the supernatural and hops on the crazy train

I think I've recommended it before, but I'd love to see you cover Prediction: Murder. Season 5 episode 8 or 9, I think. It comes before Something borrowed, someone blue. David Birney (you'll remember him as the dude from The Legend of Borbey house episode) plays a psychic. Jessica flies to Arizona to hang with a friend and the psychic holds a party where he tells people things he's divined and has maybe the *most* over dramatic scene in all of Murder She Wrote. If you thought he was dramatic in Borbey House, you have to see him here! Just spectacular!

Someone involved with this episode knows something about cartooning. "Bigfoot" is the name of a style of drawing that is extremely cartoony. Hatterville seems to be a reference to Walt Kelly's Pogo. Biff Banyon parodies the adventure strip Steve Canyon by Milt Caniff. And while the bizarre blackmail schemes and fake strips in this episode are ludicrous, some cartoonists are notoriously mean-spirited and the industry can get a bit cutthroat -- just not literally.

I just started to watch the series (I mean I’ve watched your videos so many times now, it’s ridiculous not to watch it, especially since I have Peacock) and made it to episode 5. And all I noticed was that Jessica was completely different in it. I actually was shocked at how she wasn’t wanting to be a detective and that the episode was very scatter brained, having a lot of different plot points in a two part episode. I hope one day you can make a video about it. And/or Episode 3 of season one, because it’s actually pretty good and I do like that the ending makes Jessica look so smart and cunning against the killer.
@adamsmoberly

The pilot of the series, she seemed different. I actually found another episode that I think it’s very funny and kind of a rollercoaster. Episode 5 of season one, Hooray For Homicide. It feels like an off the rails episode, but also cohesive to the plot as well. And I like that this is the only episode so far (in the first season and your videos) where Jessica Fletcher is a suspect. Though honestly, she did act a little out of character around a dead body than I’d assume a murder mystery writer would act. Also, not a Murder, she wrote related media, but there is a game that has a small town murder mystery vibe to it, all Persona 4 (Golden). It’s a JRPG, in like of like a Pokémon game, but also has more to it. The mystery is ok, though it’s not as clever as it could be, but the characters make up for it. Thought I’d shoot that suggestion your way too I’d your looking for a game to play.

cool video, the last video you did did have J Michael Straczynski the noted comic book and TV writer. But I wouldn't be surprised like this was like some of the merchandising drama in the 80s and 90s of Garfield, but you need to set that up more. Like phone calls "I have to make this in on time for the doll manufacture." Still a lot of those types of productions do have inkers, assistants and other artists who do all the work and then have a creator slap their name on it. So you're right, it could work, but just not in the end "I work as an goffer for 8 month and had it up to here."

Great video, as always. Having made my way through the whole box set it was clear that Jessica had terrible legal representation. She was always being tricked into things, getting ripped off or being exploited and her lawyer would just shrug and tell her that there was nothing she could do and she should be thankful she wasn’t going to prison. There was also the sense the writers weren’t very clear how anything worked, which gets more cartoonish as things go on.
