Love Sweat Fitness I have switched several birth control pill brands to find what works best for me because some really made me breakout and others made me breakthrough bleed too much. I think it’s all about finding the right birth control for you. I need it but some pills I definitely had horrible cystic acne! I cannot emphasize enough that different pills have different amounts of different hormones and you have to find what works for you if you personally need birth control.

Soo agree! There are so many options for birth control and they are not cookie cutter. Ultimately, I chose the implant as it is progesterone-based and my body is already responding to it soooo much better than the pill. I felt like a monster on the pill. Turns out?? I have low progesterone and normal estrogen levels (uncommon). Now I feel balanced again....TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL LADIES. Love your Ob/GYN!

I was put on birth control to balance my hormones and help with painful periods when I was 15. After all of the symptoms, and honestly just feeling down on life, I finally stopped a few days ago as an adult. It’s sad because I’m just now realizing I don’t know how to live as a woman without it! I only had 6 months of natural cycles from my first period until now as an adult. It’s strange how much I’m starting to realize how suppressed I really was!

20 years ago, I went off birth control after having been on it for a decade. it's like my mind woke up, I realized all the mistakes I had made, including unfortunately marrying the wrong person. I ended up divorcing, starting my life over with a new mind, my life only got better. Like you said, I went from a smooth even keel of bland nothingness to a world of exciting emotions. ...What it actually is like to be a real female, lol, The Good and the bad. And yes I could feel when everything in my cycle happened. I didn't even need birth control because I could just tell when I was fertile etc. Over the past 20 something years, I have had five children basically when I wanted to, and none when I did not want to, let's just say, without artificial birth control. It's the most empowering thing.
@JennyLory
5 жыл бұрын
I also want to say that when I stopped birth control, and I felt it leave my system, my appetite and eating style went back to what naturally should be. I lost probably 30 lb, basically without trying. And I stayed at that size, except when pregnant. As a matter of fact, each time I weaned a child, and my body returned to normal hormonally, I experienced the same thing, I basically hormonely went back to my normal state, and lost any excess pregnancy weight easily and naturally. For some reason for me, birth control makes me 30 lb heavier!

Yes people who use it to help balance their hormones will have a rough time coming off because their hormones will go back to being out of wack plus some. Birth control makes hormones consistent. Did you ever try again or are you still on it until today?

I am so worried about acne if I stop the pill. The few times I've given myself a break throughout my 20s, it's completely come back in full force (I'm 31 now). I promised myself last time I started again I wouldn't come off of them until I wanted to get pregnant. Every time I hear stories like this I really want to try and take a break again but I've been burned so many times in the past stopping it and then my face exploding in acne that I'm really worried. I'm at the point where I don't even get my period every month. Haven't had cramps in years, feel like a robot.

I’ve never been on BC. I’ve always worked with my fertility bc I don’t see it as a “problem”. I worked hard to learn my cycles with Natural Family Planning and it’s worked amazing for me. Obviously for me it’s about avoiding/achieving pregnancy but I’ve never felt the need to put something in my body for something that’s not wrong.

I was on birth control pills for four years (went through six different types because of severe side effects) and decided to switch to an IUD, the week between my birth control pills and getting the IUD I had so much energy, my sex drive was there, I felt great! I've been on the IUD for nearly two years now and all the bad side effects I had with birth control pills have been nonstop with the IUD, I will very soon have it removed.

brittney do you feel that everything was fine the first two years and then the symptoms came? Did you get the IUD out? I feel I’ve been having side effects from the IUD but this is my second one and I’m on year 3 so I don’t know if what I’m experiencing is from the IUD or what. Would love to hear your story

Emmy Merryweather I began experiencing symptoms immediately with the IUD, pain when exercise, pain with moving my body certain ways, moodiness, cramps a week before my period during my period and then ending a week after my period, no sex drive. Now I would have a month or two where my symptoms would be very minimal and I would think everything was back to normal and then the pain would start up again. The last four months before having it finally removed in February I felt like I was experiencing PMS nearly every day, I was moody, easily irritated, very emotional, etc. My lower back started hurting constantly along with tenderness in my chest, and this would last days then disappear then return. Now that I’ve had the IUD out I have had no pain or discomfort outside of my period, I am noticeably laughing more and generally happier/easy-going, and my sex drive is back

I came off the pill well over 20yrs a go, I used to have PCOS it cleared up after my second child, but my periods were horrendous, to the point of being put forward for a hysterectomy, but I came across the menstral cup which has completely changed my life, every month I used to take like a whole box of pain killers, could stand up, go to the loo, play with my kids, Since I’ve been using it I haven’t taken a single pain killer, i go to the gym and much more. it took a long time for me to get my head around it like you said, it’s weird, the thought made me queasy, but for me the lack of pain, not so heavy flow outweighs the rest. My skin has been amazing since being off birth control, it’s amazing how bad it Can be!!!

I couldn’t wake up in the morning, and then by 2pm I would have to lay down. My digestion was all messed up. And one of the worst things I experienced was terrible night sweats. I would wake up drenched in sweat. It was horrible. I also felt no motivation, probably because I was so tired all the time. @@amandak7471 I think tiredness is normal. Especially with babies who don't sleep which means you can't sleep properly cause you never get a deep sleep if you keep having to wake up. Then acne hasn’t come back just a few zits here and there(covid masks) But I attribute that to changing my skincare products to skinceuticals which worked for me on the pill and still is 😊
